i'd love to see it out of the mylar so I can see the surface and details. If its authentic, its beautiful...if the surfaces are cleaned, I am giving VF details and overall I would have to venture a guess in the VF20 area...sweet coin

Can't decide between VF-35 and XF-40. But, sorry, CCya, these weren't minted in Carson City! Let's see, what city did they mint them in again...?

Looks to be BB-158 B-16, but would like a clearer picture of the date.

Grrr.

For what it's worth, I came up with EDS B-16 as well, but I'm thinking 20-25.

Sorry, Dave! As to the grade, I would believe VF-35, but I think there's too much hair detail for 20-25.

Very pretty and I think the obverse could grade XF-40. The reverse is much softer which I presume is largely due to strike weakness. If a weak reverse is normal for this die pairing then the obverse should carry the grade.

The toning is attractive but unusually colorful given the level of wear. Hopefully it has not been determined to be artificial.

Based on the scratches on the slab this looks like a "reholder" service candidate.

Not being in the league of experience such as yours, I tend to have to depend on broader guidelines to grade these. At the same time I spend so much time harping on strike quality in Morgans having a bearing on grading.

I am going to go out on a limb a bit and guess EF-45. From a details perspective, it looks like a VF-25/30 but there appears to be a light "glow" around some of the stars, lettering, and hair which I think could be the remnants of original mint luster. It suggests to me that strike may have played a factor in the loss of details and the grade may be higher than what it appears to be. There are some marks and scratches but they don't all that bad relative to the size of the coin. IMO, the coin has very good eye appeal especially with the attractive toning. A beauty!

VF-20 minimum maybe even as high as VF-35?
