Found yesterday at local PO in Toronto :
Sterling Silver Coin & Stamps Set - Blue Whale (2010)
This is new sealed set, I do not remember the price , or 79.95 (issue price) or 70.
Didn't buy it because the coin is .925, but need to say - nice set. Whoever is interested....

Redzapsid, I've been to Imperial for supplies, but haven't paid much attention to the coin prices. However, I was there the other day and a 25 cent Downy Woodpecker caught my eye. His price was 200. I just checked Colonial Acres and their price is the same.

Sterling Silver Coin & Stamps Set - Blue Whale (2010) Both of the POs near me have a set too. Issue price was 79.95 and it's available for less elsewhere regularly. Quite a nice presentation in a relatively large wooden box.

Alway ask if they have any more coins in the back. I do this all the time as I've learned that what they have in their small display cases is usually just a small sample of what they may have. Most of the owners and the employees of these smaller postal outlets have no idea that they could be holding on to some valuable items. I'm in Vancouver so when I'm out and about I'm always stopping in at the Shoppers and 7-11 outlets. Earlier this year I stopped in a Shoppers in North Vancouver and asked what they had. This guy brings out a small cardboard box with 12 cased coins inside. I asked him if I could look through them and he tells me to go ahead, it's all old stuff.
Found 1 2008 Downy Woodpecker 25 cent coin - $24.95 and a 2010 Goldfinch 25 cent coin $24.95.
Neither one was on sale but to get those two coins at mint issued prices, I was super pleased. Those would probably be my best finds at a PO but there have been many times I've picked up sold out items for mint issued prices.
It's just like roll hunting on steriods :)

It never occurred to me to try looking at post offices for coins so this thread is really useful information for the newbies (like me) on this forum. I live in Manitoba and Shoppers don't normally have post offices, but at least some Rexall outlets and some 7-11s do. What a great way to spend time in January & February to ease the winter blahs! Will definitely post if I find some deals. Cheers, Rob

Just picked up 3 RCM 25 cent Tulip / lady bug coins in perfect condition for $9.98 each at the local post office, regular issue price was $24.95 each. Staff there were fantastic. I remember seeing them on the RCM site but didn't really care at the time. I've got to say they are very nice, and they look to be larger than a 50 cent piece. This is the 1st time I've seen a quarter that's bigger than a normal quarter. Happy dance. Also, Blue Whale sterling silver coin and stamp set 2010 in a maple display box for 20% of original issue. I had a good day.

Very nice find, Liverpool!
(the discount is really good)
Just to clarify - if I remember correctly - all CuNi colored quarters (i mean for those which NCLT) are 35mm in diameter.
As example - LadyBug, GITD Dyno....

And.......... This was some kind of gift set, Regular $19.**, got it for just under $8.00. Gift card: "Forever". It has a painted heart on the quarter and all of the coins (except regular quarter)from 2010. Included 50 cent piece. I figured I couldn't go wrong. Again a good day.

I'm in New Brunswick. It was a luck thing that worked out for me. I'm no expert but there are two types of Post Office outlets. THe main stores can get inventory from the mint and if it does not sell they can return it, no risk for them. THe smaller ones buy there inventory and can potentially be stuck with it if it does not sell. The people working at these stores are basically trying to operaet a small business. Inventory at times must be moved sometimes a loss. I was lucky enough to met a staff member that was righting down the products. Don't quote me, that is just my rake on it.

I found the Modern Day Superman at the regular price at PO in downtown Windsor. They had some coins on sale that I was not interested in:
- Prince Harry silver - Prince Henry silver - Some birthstone coins from 2011
The lady that worked there indicated they put anything over two years old on sale.
