It ain't easy being an elf. But sometimes things fall into place.
I had a problem and asked the members of the CCF for help. Soon help was forthcoming. Turns out, my benefactor is the very same person that I drew as the recipient of my little gift.
So, I went to talk with Santa. "Santa," I said, "there are nice boys and girls and naughty boys and girls and VERY nice boys and girls. Can you help me make an appropriate selection?"
Well, Santa was laughing more than usual and I suspect that he got into the spiked eggnog. Then he said, "Let me see (hic) what I have (hic).
Together we looked through his special holdings and we decided on an appropriate gift.
I thanked him and proceeded to the elves lounge and brewed up a large pot of strong coffee.
The poor guy is getting a bit overwhelmed and it is only Dec 4th!
Ho Ho Ho!

My gift is on its way to its designated country as I speak; the only hint I'm giving is that it is heading East from the UK .

On the occasion of returning from the post office, I would like to paraphrase Jackie Gleason: "And awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay it goes!"

This has been so fun, researching old posts and getting to know someone when he is not looking! I really have enjoyed this: it's a different kind of hunt. I'm off to post office and sending package with lots of good wishes! Many thanks to rggoodie for putting this together...

I figured out what to send to me person and I hope their wants list post hasn't changed in the past couple of months. Still a good piece either way I think! It's going in the mail Friday once I get paid since it's going international! I should throw in some other goodies too!
Can't wait until we start seeing photos of what everyone receives!

To a guy who has everything, upstate, several pair of nice socks! Perhaps with a few pennies from pocket change put into the toes. If your "old" lady, mds380, has not yet thrown your coins out with the weekly trash, I suggest that you let things be and do not make trouble! And to everybody else: I think that rggoodie wants us to have fun with this Secret Santa thing. I KNOW that I am having fun!

Quote:Just read that link as to what the guy I got assigned collects. Apparently he doesn't specifically collect anything I have, or might plausibly get I did think of some tangentially-related stuff, but even taken together it barely comes up to a single dollar in purchase value, so at best it'll be a side-course. Well, whatever. I would probably go out and buy some random stuff for him sometime next week, and in case that fails I have a backup option handy (which I'd rather not use though - it's a completely unremarkable coin that's only worth $5 because of its face value). Remember that one? Well, I did buy the random stuff (which coincidentally happened to be related to what the guy collects as well)... but I just calculated the purchase value of all the stuff I wanted to send except the backup coin (using whatever is the smaller of catalog value and how much I paid), and unfortunately I only got $4.50 I have three options now: 1) sending only this (and failing the rules); 2) sending this as well as the backup (which, I remind, is completely unremarkable, but worth just over $5 just in face value); and 3) trying to buy some more random stuff (would've been ideal, but I'm not sure I'll have enough time this week, and I'd better have the whole thing assembled and sent by next Monday or I'm not sure if it would arrive in January). So which option do you think would be better?
