The fact that an "unremarkable" coin was sent from Moscow on Father Frost's sleigh to a far-off destination makes it VERY remarkable. Rest easy, мой друг! [my friend]

January..I can only speak for myself but the spirit of giving is what makes this fun! I could not care less what I receive. The good will of collectors from across the globe is what this is about. Words of wisdom from my daughters preschool teacher many years ago..." ya get what ya get and you dont get upset!"

The good will of collectors from across the globe is what this is about. Words of wisdom from my daughters preschool teacher many years ago..." ya get what ya get and you dont get upset!" That's the problem here I assembled (well, not fully yet, but the remainder is all common circulation coins and will probably be ready by Friday evening at the latest) a bunch of coins I'm fairly sure the recipient would like. Unfortunately, between the coolest coin in the bunch only having a $1 catalog value and me only paying $3 for the 17th-century coin I intended to buy, the whole thing barely comes up to $4.50 - if that. The remaining coin is a piece with a $5+ face value I accidentally acquired (basically I wanted any reasonably-uncommon foreigns, and this was the only one the particular dealer still had). Admittedly, now that I think of it, I don't really want to keep it anyway so off it goes!

Matthew, Amida and RGGoodie... I had a blast putting this package together. It was my first completed present of the season and it was so fun secretly stalking my partner. Sure hope he enjoys it as much as I did putting it together!

The "common circulation coins" proved incredibly uncommon... a combination of a several-years-old date and a 10%-ish variety seems to do that. Still can't find any. I don't think I would dare send a "set" missing two dates in the middle, so I'll check for any over Saturday (maybe buy a hundred or two from a shop to "roll-search" - fortunately it's a high enough denomination to be reasonably easy to spend later). Maybe I'll end up only using the other denomination I wanted to use - I already have thousands of that one around so it won't really be a problem Other than that, I've assembled everything else; now to find a decent package and write the descriptions! If there's no further problems the coins should be out on Monday morning (and, if I'm lucky, arrive sometime around mid-January).

Written for January, but all may feel free to get laugh out of this. (I suspect that he is no stranger to Math)
A Mathematician's Proof:
There is no such thing as an unremarkable coin.
1) Take an unremarkable coin. 2) Take another coin which is less remarkable. 3) Replace the first coin with the second coin. 4) Repeat these steps until you have, at last, the most unremarkable coin. 5) The fact that this coin is the MOST unremarkable makes it REMARKABLE!
Q. E. D. [Quid est demonstrata - That which has been proven: ]
There is no such thing as an unremarkable coin.
