Just a curious question.

Does anyone here buy this set?

:)

I ordered two from RCM.
One will be looking good together with 20 for 20 collection, and the second as a gift.

At the bottom line, we collect coins and not the "packages", although, the nice package is great for more "serious" item, but not for small inexpensive coin.

If the price difference was ten or less dollars, I might have gone for the fancy one. But the $13 differential and not having to pay for shipping, made the RCM offering the way to go for me.

However, I have no idea why the Mint put these small coins in such a large case.

Also agree that this one will slip in nicely with the 20 for 20 series. Lots of display options for those 27MM coins.

I don't agree in this case.

CNY is coming soon. I need a few of them as gift for family and friend.

Do you buy X-mas gift for someone but not wrap it nice?

if it is personal collection I don't even care if it comes with the original clam shell.
As I take all my coins out the mint clamshell cases and displays them in the glass cabinet.

Received mine last night. Clam shell case is WAY to big for this coin.

I do all my Christmas shopping at the dollar store - and they give you a plastic bag for wrapping.

Seriously though, if you're giving them as CNY gifts, then of course the Asian Market coin and packaging is a great option.

Please let us know if you find them anywhere at a reasonable price with reasonable shipping to Canada.

Also agree with CC, shipping fee is big concern.

they charge $32.49 + 0.15 per troy ounce.

Therefore if buy 1 or 2 it is pricy for shipping.

if buy more (combine with other coins), I will say the shipping fee is acceptable.

just visit the local PO after work and have a chance to have a look at the real coin.

The coin looks small in the case. Not so impressive with the real coin. The background doesn't look shiny, it like has some straight scratches on the background of the coin. Weird.

I will re-consider should I buy this coin as a gift.

I haven't received my coin yet, but isn't it came in the usual clamshell case?
Just like the case for "25th Anniversary of the Loonie" 1/4oz coin?

The clamshell case is double the size of a regular case.

The most common clamshell by far is 2.5" x 2.5". Many RCM coins come in that package including the Anniversary loon, IIRC.

This 2013 Snake is in a 3.5" x 3.5" clamshell usually reserved for much larger coins including 1 oz SMLs and the like.

That's not good.. was going to give one to my friend as gift. But with a big box and small coin it is a setup for disappointment.. I can already imagine the "look" on my friend's face when she open the case. Maybe I should stick with gift card.
