Photo is a bit too fuzzy for me to tell... from a distance, looks like a blunt 5...

Pics are a bit blurry. From what I see...I agree with SPP. Blunt 5.

It's definitely a Large Beads, Blunt 5 variety. I find a better indicator of which 5 you have (instead of examining the upper right tip) is shown below. If the portions of the 5 between the red and blue arrows are the same thickness, it's a pointed 5. If the thickness between the red arrows is noticeably larger than between the blue arrows, it's a blunt 5.

When determining lg or sm beads I have heard 2 things. if there space between II of quessn elizabeth II points to a bead then it is a large and also if the A in regina points to a bead it is lg....well this shows that someone is flawed. counted beads dont lie.

A to the right of a large bead.
A to the left of a small bead is more accurate for bead size.
That's how I look at the last a in gratia.

Bm0ney's statement is probably the most accurate description of how to differentiate small/large bead 1965 pennies using the final A in GRATIA. "A to the right of large bead" is also described as "A points to bead" and "A to the left of small bead" is also described as "A points between beads".

This is what I use to determine if a 1965 nickel is small/large beads. Of course, bead counting will always give an unequivocal answer. It's just more time consuming, hence these quick tricks.
Rest in Peace

I also think its a pointed 5, large beads. After looking at some other ones I have, the tip of the 5 really stands out almost to a 45 degree angle.

I have drawn a line on the end of the 5 on the picture I created with the software I use and it does look about 45%...But, hey I am by no means and expert...Just my opinion.

Look at the real pointed and blunt 5's...Yours is very, very close.

@laureatebust, the "A To the right large and A to the left small" is the way I look at the 65 one cent beads.
The A to or between doesn't seem quite right but it is used often.

I better throw in a too

In the original picture in this post the bottom of the vertical part of the 5 makes it look like a blunt 5.

A better photo would be an easier method to resolve this...

Hey Spawk

SPP is absolutely correct...There are 2 camps with conflicting ideas, a GOOD picture would help, and make it as close up as possible....I would be interested in the out come of this mystery...
