Being totally uninitiated into the area of graded coins and population reports, could someone advise if I have the concept down correct.
If the coin is graded as a MS64 and the population report shows 42. I believe that it is indicating that for the particular coin in that grade that 42 coins have been graded as a MS64.
Is my interpertation correct or do I have it wrong?

The population report show the MAXIMUM number of coin(s) being graded in that particular grade. However there are something to consider: a) Older coins: A single coin can have multiple submission as collector/dealer trying to get the coin into a higher grade by cracking out and re-submitt. Which mean the total population of the coin can be less. This is mainly happening with high value coin, especially when the price btw grades are large. b) Modern coins: Don't just rely on the population report ONLY, you need to consider TOTAL population report/mintage as many more coins may not have submitted (just like shadow-inventory of foreclosed home that are not on the market YET.)

Also keep in mind that if PCGS says they graded 42 in MS64 that only means they PCGS graded that many, there is also NGC and ANACS. John1

What does the 505143.64 signify?
The first set of numbers identify the coin as a type. 2011-P 25C Glacier NP
The second set of numbers identify the grade (MS64)
The third set identify the "specific" coin being graded.

Mailman28 if you can let's see a pic of the 66! I believe that's the highest grade anyone's gotten so far! So if you can we'd love to see it!
