Anyone know when the melt numbers will be released?

I predict we won't see any melt numbers.
I foresee a second wave of coins becoming available to the public may not be in the best condition but I think the mint realizes there is a market for these coins, so they will capitalize on it.
For some reason I don't feel these coins will be melted

just on pcgs site to verify an ebay coin, notice the gold hoard video on their main page, at 5.50 mark of the video he says he sold the dealer portion, which is 15000 coins and near the end of the video he mentions they were sold to american dealers and telemarketers.

That would be fraud.

How would that be fraud?
As long as the coins are accounted for the mint can do anything they wish with these coins . Obviously a lot more coins have been released then previously stated. Plus who's really going to come after the government with fraud.
Why spend that extra money to melt down and refine when there clearly is a market for these coins and at over the price of gold spot too boot. I think we will see these coins become available again in lower grades but people will still buy them due to the "history" of the coin.
If they do get melted and refined I could see some "bank of Canada gold hoard" 1oz bars coming along grossly over priced.

There was a warning regarding extremely good fakes of all dates of these, (both $5 and $10), made from gold recycled from very worn U.S. gold coins. The warning was attached to an auction lot description of a gold $10 of this period. This was quite common...gold coins but counterfeit...perhaps from Lebanon YEARS ago.....another reason not to buy ungraded coins. These RCM coins being excepted of course.

@swrbxxx, maybe not fraud but certainly non-ethical, to say the least!

I think whatever is the case going to be: more coins are going to be released; the mint had dealers cherry pick; there are lots of ms63 and 64 grade with NGC and PCGS; these coins are not going to sustain value; the mint is going to rip us; everyone that I know that purchased these coins both for flipping or keep-sake are very happy with their coins. In fact nearly all flips that I saw on ebay are money in the pocket too.

Upon release of these coins, it was stated that the remaining coins would be melted. They may issue other coins or bars from the gold content, but that is expected. It's not as if they are going to let all that gold go to waste. Something will be made from the gold and perhaps whatever it is, may be marketed as bank of Canada hoard gold. I'm ok with that.

^^^ I agree. It is not fraud, it would be considered false advertising.I'm not sure how anyone here can claim that the mint is selling more coins than it stated. The mint is not in the business of ripping people, its Crown owned and as long as it makes profit to support its employees, its issuing of circulation coins and providing us with beautiful coins I'm more than happy with that. Remember, if the RCM doesn't make money, layoffs could happen and tax money will go to support the business- or perhaps privatization since we got Harper now!

False advertising, fraud, whatever you want to call it, it would be grounds for a lawsuit by die hard collectors

A lawsuit by die hard collectors that is laughable, the mint has on many occasions produced more coins then set out even on COA's.
If anything a lawsuit is kind of greedy on the part of diehard collectors if you ask me. Why wouldn't you want more of these coins on the market, maybe to get many more people into coin collecting. Lets be honest here, I don't see a strong coin collecting market once the baby boomer generation dies off.

I guess there are just a few kinds of people. Some people who eat their grapes and be content and some people who sees people eating grapes and kept on thinking those grapes must be real sour. The last worse kind of people are people who dont eat grapes and try to convince anybody else around them that they should not eat grapes and kept on describing how sour grapes are; how bad for health they are; how in the future people will not eat grapes; its very laughable.
I love grapes and I think they are very sweet. Dont you agree Redzapsid.
