@Bibo, this is not my coin. It is an auction from Heritage. Here is a link to PCGS fee and services. http://www.pcgs.com/servicesandfees/@swrbxxx, I got to believe that PCGS can do a better job. The gash in the crown is so noticeable as well, and I have no idea what that thing is on the face of King George V as it distracts the overall appearance of this coin. It must have been graded on a Friday... Anyhow, many others just like this are being overgraded. It's not the only one I have seen with the Canadian Gold Reserve Slab from PCGS that is so rough that the grade does not justify the actual condition of the coin. I have yet to see a clear image of a coin in a PCGS Canadian Gold Reserve Slab with a justifiable grade. The previous PCGS grading standards before they came up with the Canadian Gold Reserve slabs is a lot more precise and representative of the gold coin grades. Every coin that I have seen so far in these new slabs are over graded, IMHO.

That is the exact reason I don't buy graded or get my coins graded. I grade my own coins using the poor, nice, very nice, I'm buying it!" scale. It is pointless unless you want to sell them. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's like getting a car appraised. If the guy likes Fords (and of course everyone does. Hehehe.), he tends to appraise a little better than a Honda.

I don't disagree with the MS63 grade for the coin on the last page because if you don't use magnification and look at the coin with the naked eye, the scratches are not that bad. Every one of my gold goins have scratches/bag marks on them. They are unavoidable. I think PCGS factor that into their grading. They look at the overall quality of the coin and it averages out to MS63.

The free shipping and being able to order some of the hot items before they get sold out are the best benefits for me as a MC member. Following these coin forums lets you know what is coming out before you get a MC notice from the Mint. Canada Post does offer free shipping but they don't have all of the coins available and sometimes they are sold out before they get to Canada Post.

I agree with MoneyPenny on the grading ,while I was waiting for my coins to arrive I purchased some sovereigns and they have the same scratches and they were graded by ICCS and one is a ms 62 and the other is a 63.If you go to pcgs and read their grading standards the flash and overall look rates very high for them after the technical points.the light surface marks I think show up more because they are fresh out of the bag, coins graded in the past might not show the same surface marks if they were handled just a bit. When I look at the finish or sheen on my hoard coins I am very impressed.I am sending mine to pcgs as soon as the last one I ordered a couple of weeks ago arrives" .I want to thank all the collectors on this site for the info that helped me to order some more after they were sold out.

It looks like PCGS is giving that extra luster of the hoard coins a very heavy weighting. It does have far more luster than the MS62, but I think those heavy scratches are distracting from the eye appeal.

An update.
I got another e-mail saying it will be shipped within 10 days. On March 7 it was 7-10 days.
LOL!

Dialog,
Your patience is way greater than mine. I just ordered a few more of the new release coins. I'm counting on them being late so I can save a few bucks to pay for them

CC-Ottawa, I found out the official number of Premium Hand-Select $5 Gold Coins. They are as follows: 1912: 75 1913: 113 1914: 103 ---------- Total 291 This can be verified by other members here who saw the official RCM release. So, those who said it was a total of 228... that number is incorrect, and 1913 was not the lowest coin of 45 but in fact the highest in the 3 coin Premium Hand Select Series.

Here is a great question based on Premium Select numbers posted above...If you have Premium Select Gold Coins, do you leave them in the original packaging or have them graded by PCGS?
