Yep! We all know by now how they are graded, for the most part. I'm keeping mine intact.

What if ICCS could grade them without opening the capsule? I just dont understand wht they could not. They need a slightly bigger plastic to hold the entire capsule + coin. This way, even the holograms are intact and you know if it is hs or phs. I am thinking if enough people requested this, they might do it. I asked them the question last week.

ICCS would totally receive a lot more clients. If they can gross-grade a PCGS, there is no reason why they would not be able to grade a capsuled coin with the hologram label, and stick it one of their soft plastic bag.

Well I phoned again and ed about my coins that are still not delivered since November....got xferred to customer resolutions where the lady said its ridiculous that I've been waiting since Nov since I " buy a lot of coins from them" so now my coins will be shipped priority and I should get them within 2 weeks . Huh? What kind of gong show are they running there!? I get priority shipping having waited 4+ months for my order to ship?
Wow....just wow. After being told no less than 5 different shipping dates by their CSM's (or more, I cant remember) and all came and past with no coins or even a charge on mt CC, I now have 0 faith in the RCM man.....none

I have no intention of submtting any of my gold coins to any grading company, especially one like ICCS.
They look much better encapsulated and in a clam case with a COA than a flimsy plastic bag.

As for ICCS, what kind of company are they that uses plastic bags with type written words?
They don't even have a web site in a digital age. I could not find any infroamtion of them besides an address and phone number. I would't send them any valuable coins.

Money penny, the only reason why you dont know them is because you dont collect decimals. ICCS certification is "THE" certification that most canadian numismatic collectors rely on. a graded coin by them reaffirms the numismatic value of your gold coin. A ms-63 1914 $5 is worth $1700 while a ms-64 1914 would be worth $4500. I can tell you that there will be buyers for your 1914 $5 ms-64 for $3500 graded by ICCS anytime while I can guarantee that there will not be a single buyer that would pay $1500 when money penny says " my coin is MS-65".

MJT,
Which sells better? Coins graded by ICCS or PCGS? Suppose ICCS and PCGS have the same MS-63 grade for a 1914 $5 gold hoard coin?

@moneypenny the ICCS graded coin would sell for more. Like MJT said most Canadian numismatic collectors rely on ICCS, as the top dog in Canadian grading.

I also agree with ICCS getting better resale prices on Candian coins than a same grade from PCGS or NGC.

I was looking at my old 1960 Charlton guide and thought it interesting the values for UNC gold coins 1912-1914. For the $5's 1912, 1913 and 1914, it was $35, $38 and $200, respectively. For the $10's it was $70, $75 and $115, respectively. I suppose there just were not that many 1914's in circulation. Even the 1948 silver dollar UNC was worth $75 in 1960 (now $3200 for a ms63). Coins have appreciated with inflation it appears. Not so with stamps.

Well, miracle time. My HS 1914 $5 arrived exactly 4 months after it was ordered.

It is rather beaten up, with multiple sets of ugly gouges. I would give it an MS-62 at best.

What is the state of other insanely late orders?

I can't believe there are still coins being shipped. Granted, this was an unprecedented release, but they handled it very poorly. I feel bad for those still waiting. I got mine not long ago but was very pleased with the condition.

Still waiting for mine, was half thinking of cancelling but I will most likely not buy another one and its a "hoard" coin so I guess that makes it somewhat special....well maybe lol.
