I was waiting as well and called the mint. They told me that some credit cards are denying orders because they were so large. So after I heard that, I called the credit card company to put a notation on file regarding allowing the transaction through. After that, I received my coin within two weeks. I'm not sure if that would speed up the process for anybody at all, or if my actions did nothing and it was all just a coincidence

Quote: Maybe they accidentally blew through the stock on subsequent orders and are now rummaging through the melt pile for you guys
But I do hope you all receive them soon, the proper ones. Someone on the other forum mentioned he recently received a poor quality 1914 $5 coin with rim chips/dings and scratches. People who receive early coins seem to have better quality coins.

hmmm.. between my extended family and myself, I've seen these coins come in 1-2/month from January on. And, you know what, now that I think back, the quality of the hand selects really is lower for the latter coins. So this may mean the coins were not all sorted and packaged before hand, that the coins may have been sorted but improperly stored between start of sales and packaging for the latter sales, or sales of coins is serial with selection of the coins.

I suspect, that they weren't selected at all on the time of the sales. Maybe only the 6-coin PHS set. When the sales ended (some approximate amount of coins has been sold), they started with selection.
Yes, I expect the lower quality, than my February coin, but still it will be beautiful Canadian $5 gold coin.
BTW: the 1914 $5 and 1914 $10 coins, from the BOC hoard - did they were in circulation?

I'm still waiting for 2 1914 $5's. I called last Friday and told them that 4+ months of waiting and constantly being told that it will ship on such and such date and watch that date pass over and over again was ridiculous, and I was at the point of cancelling my order. She agreed and said that it was ridiculous and would ship all my coins priority. Got 2 of them today (1912 $10's), but 2 are still in limbo. They say that they are shipped on my RCM acct but no shipping confirmation sent via email. Hopefully they show soon! TLDR: if you're still waiting - call and complain! And if that doesn't work, call and complain again!

Fed ink,
With just 2 coins to compare, one will be better than the other. It's a coin toss as to which one. Pun intended. I got mine just a couple weeks ago and I believe it to be just as good as ones I've seen posted here months ago.

gold price keep going down, so these gold coins will go under issue price later...

Panda,
It's hard to guess what the gold price will be in the future, but I doubt they will ever drop below issue price. If you have a 1912 $5, I'll gladly give you issue price for it.

1912 $5 is not hard to find at $400ish at any major coin show. It's the most common one in the series.

Panda;
When the price of gold drops, the Mint never lowers its price of its NEW gold coins, like those 1/10, 1/25, etc., so why should they lower the price of the 1912-1914 coins.
Plus the gold coins that sell for $400 in coin shows are in awful shape, nowhere near the quality of the gold hoard.
