That seems more realistic in comparison to the old Trends.

thank you very much for the link with photos; Not that I suspect I could have afforded to buy any at the time, but I didn't hear about this till years after the fact, so seeing that which you've shared was appreciated!

Does anyone know the range of grades on the premium hand select sets of 6 coins? I've seen a 63 on ebay, but curious if you could find a 64 or even 65.

Posted at the top of this page by tripoli... Quote: A boxed premium set will grade in the MS63-65 range, and that is beyond the grading prowess of myself and others without the coin in hand. My guess is that one coin will be exceptional at 65, one not so nice at 63, for an AVG grade of 64 for the set. This from the 3 sets I was lucky enough to see in person.

Haven't been on the forum very long and just recently found this thread. I've been reading through the whole thing the last couple days. A lot of great information here. I know it's years since the RCM offered these, but I would like to try to find a HS $5 preferably 1912, because of the Klondike history, in the original mint packaging, to go alongside a couple of GSA silver dollars I have. (I'm from the US), would anyone be able to point me in the direction of one at a somewhat reasonable price? I'm guessing it's not something I'm going to find at any coin show near me. Thanks for any info and for all the info in the thread.

I have seen them pop up on ebay from time to time, purchased the 1913 to complete my set there. You can also try the CNC coin auction, they sometimes have them still in the original box. It will probably involving keeping your eyes open. Maybe checkout some of the bigger Canadian online stores.

@vonigohcr Thanks for the tip, but I couldn't even dream of a set. I have a Pride of Two Nations set and would like to do my own Pride of Two Nations. I have a couple of GSA Morgans and would like to get a Klondike gold 1912 $5 in original RCM packaging. I think the history behind both is cool. I checked the sites recommended (and a couple of others) with no luck. Guess I'll have to be patient like some of the forum members who waited months for delivery of theirs. Maybe something will come along.

A little bit ago I acquired a 1912 $5 PCGS ms64 with the Gold Hoard label which completes my set that I started when they first came out. I first became interested when I was starting to invest a percentage into gold and I came across the press release about the sale of these coins and then then this site. When I visited the RCM site there were only 1914 coins left so I ordered 2 five dollars and 1 ten dollar. While I was waiting for them with everyone else I noticed there was thousands graded already while no one on this site had received theirs. A little bit of a firestorm started and some people mainly in the States started cancelling their orders. Then someone on this site mentioned because of the returns you might be able to get more ,so I phoned in and was able to acquire another $5 1914 and a 1912 $ 10 . So I joined PCGS and sent them in for grading. They came back as follows 1912 $10 ms 63 ,1914 $10 ms64 , 2- 1914 $5 ms64 and the last 1914 $5 that I acquired came back a ms 64+ and it was definitely better than the other 2 1914 $5. After that I acquired a 1913 $10 already graded as PCGS ms 64 for $900 US with the same label in 2016. Then I purchased a 1913 $5 in the mint case for $736 in 2016 from a dealer in Quebec and sent it in for grading and was able to still use the same label and it came back as PCGS ms 64. The last coin the 1912 $5 came in February this year. Before this I had not looked at my small coin collection for probably 30 yrs and I found the hunt quite exciting and informative. Because of this I started looking at other Canadian gold mainly sovereigns ( I realize some don't consider them Canadian but I think they are neat).I have also acquired a few other Canadian coins, but traded off just about all my modern RCM nclt for more bullion. As well I also become interested in old pour silver bars and collected them along the way. The hunt was fun and I enjoyed reading all the posts here of all of the extremely knowledgable members and have learned a lot. I usually don't have much to say but really enjoy reading here. Seeing as I am going stir crazy now I thought I would just share my hunt.
