A Fake? How are you sure of this without seeing images of the full coin? Please explain?

Well, to start with, Mike Diamond is one of the two or three foremost authorities in the country regarding error coins. It's not really "guessing" for him. My thought is he's seen similar before, and if forced to theorize, I'd suspect the telltale is in the area where the two dates overlap.

Diagnostically, the numerals seem odd.

I agree with vermontensium,

But! I still like to see the whole coin with better resolution, without all those flashes...

Let me chime in and tell you what I see.
1:there are more than two obverse images.See the neck line in the third photo.
2:In the last photo you can see two impressions from the base of the bust.I don't know if these would show if the reverse was stuck on the die.It looks more like the reverse was sitting on a soft surface.
I may be wrong but that's how I see it.

Because Mr. Diamond is one of the world's top authority on error coinage and has long ago earned the reputation as a true expert in the field ... when he speaks we listen.

Most likely Mike Diamond has seen this type of coin a few hundred times ... and armed with the knowledge acquired over his years of study is able to make that statement ... and trust that most (many) of us value his opinions.

You do have an open invite to post complete photos of both the obverse and reverse ... wondering where they are?

The soft, blended overlap between primary and secondary images is one clear indicator of fakery. The subequal strength between the two dates is another indicator. Finally, the reverse face shows some distortion (e.g., beneath the Memorial), which is also consistent with this sort of fake. Many such fakes have been sold on ebay over the years.

Rest in Peace

I ran your coin through a software program I sue to analyse stamps and coins....Notice the red arrows, they show, when I enhance your coin that both dates are equal in height, could this be caused by a loose die...?

Again, I am no expert, just my theory.
