You don't need to 'bump' your post. As I can see from the latest posts, it would still be visible and near the top. I don't think there is anything wrong with the coin, but I'll have to wait for an expert as I don't look for errors.

EDIT: From what I know a double date one would be a lot more see able. This seems like a normal Wheat cent to me.

To experts - Isn't the error penny for 1955 wheat? Not S?

I'm going to move this into an area where it will get better attention, but first:

The "famous" 1955 Double Die is a Philadelphia coin, not a San Francisco one. And if you see one, you won't need to ask what you have. It's pretty obvious:

Ah, thanks Dave. That's what I thought. I was confused by the OP's post.

Kinda curious why the OP thought the coin was a "dubble die"....with no "dubbling" visible

It's a normal coin. Unfortunately, it's also been harshly cleaned . . . not good for anything but the junkbin.

Wow Dave, that double die wheat could cause a headache if you star at it too long! :)
Rest in Peace

I see some odd marks on the reverse but they seem to be the result of wear or harsh treatment.

But it's still a '55 -- so that's something.

There's Machine Doubling on the reverse - look at the detail image of ONE - but I think that's where it stands.
