New to this thread. Some nice finds here! I've taken a liking to the Susan B's and the Sacagawea's within the last 6 months or so. I have a Sac from each year 2000-present (except 2005 and 08), and all were pulled from rolls/circulation except 2002, 12, and 13. I don't save the Presidential dollars, as I think they're ugly, and really, how many different coin series with annual reverse designs do we need? Plus, the Sacs are supposed to continue after the Presidential dollars end in a few years.

Has anyone found a 1981 SBA while roll hunting? I wonder how frequently they enter circulation.

About to get a box of dollars for fun just to see if anything comes out of it, and I can not for the life of me tell if any SBA is near or whatever. anyone got some advice for seeing impaired people to tell easily if they have found one? I have a 40x little microscope to check under and a caliper if anyone has a measurement of the rim itself on the ones I should be looking out for.

the 1980 and '81 are all wide rim I think so you can measure them and compare to a narrow 1979.
Hope this helps

A couple of weeks ago I found 4x1981 SBAs fresh out of mint sets. I got 1x81P, 2x81Ds, 1x81S. So now I completed my Harris 2699 folder.

I was looking for halves and I found $7.5 of halves with 14 of them being 1981 or 1980 in mint condition. The teller handled me back with two quarters as change. One of the quarter was a 1981P in mint condition. Together it stroke me as a collector deposit. So I asked the teller what other coins this particular customer brought in. She told me that he also brought in these dollar coins.

Thank you! Those pictures are a lot better than any I could find on google and sharper too so I can see them to tell what I should be looking for. Now to go through the 7 rolls of SBAs I have before my box of dollars comes in this week to be ready to get down to going cross-eyed staring at all of those rims.

Nothing in the ones I already had, but my first box gave me my 1980s SBA, a wide rim SBA, Benjamin Harrison, and 2005 SAC.

Maybe I will try again in the future and hope for the elusive 1981 SBAs, but the looks I get when spending rolls of dollars and the questions; it is like people don't know they exist. At least with spending half dollar rolls, they know about them and thought everyone stopped using them. People are jsut so silly these days.

Ive been getting dollar coins from the bank for the past couple months and on my last stop I picked up $100. I got 4 nf string and company rolled presidential rolls. 2 millard fillmore, 1 john tyler, 1 martin van buren. Do these sell for any premium and is there any way to tell the mint mark without opening the rolls?

I don't even ahve the eyes to look for proofs unless they stand out. There is a reason the Mint stopped using edge lettering afterall. How hard was it to notice those proofs out of the whole box?
