I appreciate the novelty, but I *hate* aluminum, zinc, and brass coins. I would prefer the steel sandwichs we have now over aluminum.

FINALLY I have it its mine hahahha also the 197? 5 cent struck on a dime... and yes before any one asks they will be offered to members first ....Ok so the loonie as you can see was harshly cleaned . Looks like they tried to scrape it to see if it was coated... It weighs 5.6 grams exact size as a normal loonie and is magnetic date 1989 so its not aluminium as I thought

the 5 cent is 197? weighs 2.1 grams and again same size as the dime. and it also is magnetic

The loon dollar has me suspicious - it is fully struck, in collar, it could be missing the plating layer - but in that condition, it really does not matter...

Heat. Oxygen acetylene torch. Too hot melts it. Just right turns silver.

The loon is indeed suspicious. Obverse is abraded and reverse looks also attacked (chemical deposits here and there, etc). The 5c is very neat.

Try it. I know it works.
Oxy acetylene torch turns loonies silver before they melt.
