Distinctive from regular coins because the dies are sandblasted with a fine mixture of sand and glass beads

Not that I would ever believe anything the HSN said but I don't believe that statement is true. I believe the finish is the result of laser etching. Can anyone confirm that?

edit to add: from mint.ca description of the subscription coins..."A hallmark of the O Canada series, the central image is set between two semi-circular bands â€" each one laser polished to a gleaming, mirror-like finish"

Ordered the subscription from the first day of release, but got the "Inukshuk" day before yesterday, and the "Beaver" yesterday.

Need to wait till march in order to "house" them.

Nice surprise and beautiful coins.

Added:
The COA's assigned in random way.
Interesting, in which stage of packing decided which coin will go as part of the subscription, and which will be sold in separate?
The COA's are 09xxx and 25xxx

I am still on the fence about this subscription... has the mint done a theme like this before or is this something new?

Is it anticipated that the 1oz series will host a coloured coin as the 1/2 series does?

no, I saw all the 1oz design and there is no color one.
btw, when I saw the 1/2oz and 1oz beaver side by side, the 1oz looks really faint.
or I should say 1oz does not outstand because of its weight and cost.

in other wards, 1/2 oz has high cost performance ratio.

from the source I can not release.

what I can tell you is that no big design difference compared as 1/2series.

family sizes are 3beavers, 3pb, 3w, 2c, 2o. I like the polar bear best.

Pulled the trigger today on the 1/2 ounce subscription. Saw some of the coins in person and they look quite nice. Besides the ugly niagara falls one (at least on the screen maybe better in person... fingers crossed) it looks to be a real nice set. Worst case, cancel and sell the box for a premium :P
