Quote: 2) They send you "please pay for item X" within 48 hours, which I find to be harassing. I believe that is an automated setting you can turn on with your ebay listings. So two days after an auction ends, ebay automatically generates an email.

I pay all my ebay item minutes after I purchase them and have never had a problem from anyone if I buy in a store the same thing so I don't see why anyone should have two days grace to pay for an item unless agreed upon in advance especially with pay pal, I guess thats why I have never been blocked.

The bank account I use for paypal has very little money in it.If I make a purchase over $50 I won't pay 'til I deposit cash in that account.Sometimes the seller will have to wait a couple of days for payment. If the listing says payment is expected in 24 hours or such,I'll message them and explain.Haven't been blocked for late payment yet.

Quote: 2) They send you "please pay for item X" within 48 hours, which I find to be harassing. As SPP said, this is just an automated setting that is on by default. The messages are essentially meaningless so don't take them personally. As DBM said, sometimes it takes a couple of days to move money around. Particularly if you win more auctions than you expected. I use a low limit credit card myself (extra layer of fraud protection + earn points) and even in this modern era it's 2 business days (so 4-5 days if there's a weekend or holiday in there) from the time the money leaves my account before it appears as 'available credit' on the card. Not directly relevant to ASYN as they have free shipping, but I will also hold off paying if there are a series of auctions ending over several days so I can benefit from combined shipping. But I always contact the seller to confirm that's okay. Never had anyone say 'No' yet.

definitely a polarizing seller, but very useful for filling in holes in collections at reasonable (free shipping) prices

Just received 11 Imperial German coins from Asyn's December 29 auction. In a couple of cases the grades advertised were the actual, and 8 of them were a grade below. All in all, not bad considering what I paid.

I don't mind waiting a couple of days. But if it's going to be longer than that I appreciate a heads up to let me know there's going to be a delay.
As for Asyn, I've only dealt with him/them once and was completely satisfied

I admit I really don't understand all the hate for asyn here. For a new collector just starting out I would heartily recommend him.
When I first started collecting coins I had a lot of holes to fill and asyn was a great source for doing that without breaking the bank. And I would rather have a cheap coin than a hole in the book that needs filling. Now I'm taking my time to upgrade I buy little from asyn, but again, he is a good source, IF you realize his coins are overgraded but know enough about what you're doing to be able to determine what a proper grade for the coin is and therefore can determine the coin's appropriate value. If you notice, he gets full price for just about any MS65 coin he offers, so some people must agree with his grading. He does point out that grading is subjective, so, basically, caveat emptor.
I have had a couple of problems and they were resolved without argument. Yes, his shipping can be slow, but free shipping - which is great! - on the volume he does it is to be accepted. But where does he get all those stamps?

Quote: And if you have not paid for your item after 2 days...shame on you. Asyn explicitly invites bidders to accumulate items for up to seven days before paying. I think the only point Anjohl was trying to make is that it seemed contradictory to be given a long window to accumulate items, but then be reminded to pay after two days. The big caveat here is that asyn states " ebay will cancel the transaction" if payment delay exceeds seven days. I also pride myself on being a "lightning fast payer", but if I were to buy from asyn again, I would almost certainly wait five days or so if there were other auctions I was interested in.

lyradnoj I agree...asyn is a good place to buy from BUT one has to be carefull with his grading...especially for a novice collector. No one likes his grading practices but its well known and it probably wont change.

It is a good place for a novice to get coins. $100 dollars could get you up to 100 coins of any denomination. IMO Asyn should leave their grading right out of their listings (except third party), it's almost dishonest to show a grading in the title and then a disclaimer in the body
