Just imagine the Mint saying one of the rolls may have a 2013 penny in it or some sort of variety, everybody will be scrambling to look for it. Oh well, maybe next time for the nickel?

the winnipeg loonie and toonies were produced for proof sets. there is no penny in the 2013 proof sets, no dies produced, how can the RCM create a 2013 penny? these rolls contain 50 normal pennies, ten years from now will still be worth 50 cents

Quote: Could be 2011 pennies, maybe a metallic penny or the ever elusive 2013 penny. You never know, but we're going to find out.
All you are going to prove is that the one roll that you open has 50 2012 pennies in it. In order to disprove that there are no 2013 or 2011 in the penny rolls, you would have to open all 20,000 rolls. GL with that. But maybe you'll find Bigfoot or even a golden ticket that gets you into the Willy Wonka chocolate factory. But hey, it's your 10 bucks. Do whatever you like with it.

There should only be 2012 pennies in those rolls, but how can anybody be absolutely certain? Not saying any Mint employee would do such a thing, but in theory, an employee could throw in a different penny into the mix.

I mean that's an easy check. But what if there was a 2011 or a 2013 or even a 2012 proof penny.

How hard would it be for a mint employee to create an error coin and slip it into the final 1 000 000?
How hard would it be for a mint employee to create any type of error coin and release it into circulation?

I don't understand... anyone could open a roll and say they found anything inside.. it doesn't mean it actually came out of the roll. A 2013 penny, sure, but otherwise.. I don't see it. Once the roll is open its tampered with and how is anyone to know where that "mysterious" penny actually came from?

Thanks MoneyPenny for the link. No, not really looking for the Penny. Already missed the boat when Gatewest and CA sold them at cost. I know J&M just had the new stuffs out but wasn't sure how to go about in finding the coin. It would be easier if they just have "New Release." Now I get it, I have to go through each denomination to find all the new stuffs.

Picked up two special penny wrap rolls (wife and I) at the Ottawa Boutique yesterday, both in the 5,*** series and both Non-magnetic. I wanted to go back and get more, however, that would have been dis-honest as they ask you at time of purchase if you have already purchased a roll! I was pondering a little white lie...however with the possibility of having the same clerk come by, causing a disturbance, and the fact it was way too uncomfortable to lie, I couldn't bring myself to do it.
