Negative feedback shall it be. I mean I'm selling on ebay and to new sellers that are not power sellers and have only about 150 feedbacks, which is my case, are usually willing to suffer a lose in money instead of gaining a negative feedback. Would of jumped on that deal for sure, but there she just got herself a negative feedback :(

She's in the wrong. She violated ebay policy by asking for wire transfer. For coins ebay don't accept cash, check, money order, or wire transfer as payment options anymore.

Unfortunately I agree with silverfever and sodude:
You'll Eventually get your money back if the seller doesn't ship, and there's the risk she'll use your signature on accepting a lump of coal to fight the case.

Be really really careful. My bet is she won't ship. If she does, don't sign for it unless it's at a post office and it weighs right. Ask the post office clerk to watch you open it, and bring a camera and pen and paper in case it's a lump of coal so you can document it and get the post office clerk to sign off.

If a seller is so inexperienced and arrogant as to list following the sure-fail tips TIPIT outlined, I would not put it past the seller to fight the disappointing sale tooth and nail.

Good luck!

That's a lot of money to fork out and not get what you paid for. I know all of us work hard for the money we earn and don't need to be scammed by some person and get away with it. That's is not a risk I would take you just gotta take control of the situation and say hey rules are rules I pay you send me the product and remember the costumer is always right. And like the other people said take pics and videos cause they don't lie. Good luck man keep us posted.

I don't know yet how the item will be shipped using what courier. I do know there will be a tracking number and signature required. She wrote a nasty message earlier saying something about bad karma. I offered to help pay towards the PayPal fee. ebay is able to monitor all conversations and I'll let them know to watch an see what happens next.

I spoke to ebay for over 30 minutes. If the seller wants to deceive me, the burden of proof is on them to prove otherwise. I have the emails sent through ebay. So if the buyer sends me anything else besides the coin set, I'll be opening a case with eBay/PayPal and will get the authorities involved for fraud.

Don't want to alarm you but what the seller could do is to mail you a carton of eggs instead of the coins and give you a tracking number which shows delivered.

To be proactive here, make sure you have a camera handy when you open that parcel, and if this does happen, photograph and document everything. Not only will that be required by PayPal for recourse, but it gives you a pretty solid argument for fraud (for which you could file criminal charges).

Chances are, the seller will refund your money and give some generic excuse like the item was lost. Don't be surprised to see this item listed again, with a higher 'Buy it Now' price on it.

Depends on which ebay host you are referring to. Sellers using ebay in Great Britain (http://www.ebay.com) can still ask for money orders or personal cheques, as form of payment.

When selling coins sometimes ill offer to ship my coins via Canada Post (COD) to save on eBay/paypal fees. It's insane how much they take off.

@Panda
Obviously, gold lost a chunk of value yesterday so the deal is not "as good as it was" just yesterday.

But this isn't only 1oz bullions, this is a commemorative, only year where proof maple leaf were issued and a fractional set.

So here is an interesting update. A refund was issued but because of the severity and fraudulent activity by the seller, ebay has informed me that the seller will not be entitled to a refund of the listing fee or 9%. All messages sent through the ebay system has been recorded and now the seller is on the hook for almost $300 in listing fees. It's a shame she went this route. If anyone is ever wants to hear what she wrote in the messages, I'll post it. I'm tired of people thinking it's the buyer's fault that the sale didn't go well and therefore try to wiggle their way out of a sale.

I'd love to read your corespondance with this seller.

Its good to hear that the seller is going to be stuck paying for all of the fees. Serves them right.

Then an invoice was issued and I can't find it. In the bottom in the notes, the seller asks for a wire transfer/bank transfer due to the item selling so cheap.

I respond...

Dear rolex-guy,

Why would you bid if that was a concern ?

Dear lisnaida1984,

Hi ...,

I'm not going to wire over $3000 due to safety concerns. I spoke to PayPal and they inform me that using them as well as ebay allows me some buyer protection in case of any fraud or liability. I'm not implying anything against you. It's insurance for both of us.

As for shipping, I assumed Canada Post would insure the full amount. I'm going to wait for you to figure things out before I pay using PayPal.

Fair enough?
