What is this going from the G to the rim? Does it give the coin any added value? Thanks!

Noah, looks to be a die crack. These are great diagnostic markers but don't generally add value. The times I can think of where one would pay more for die cracks are for a coin where the die was at the failure point and is very heavily cracked. Collectors pay more for those because they look cool. :)

As Dan says, it's a die crack. They are used as secondary markers by collectors to verify some of the more scarcer varieties, but a crack itself adds no value and may actually decrease it some, depending on the location. There really aren't a whole lot of Vicky Large Cents before 1890 that don't have a die crack somewhere and, even after that, they appear with good regularity.
