Back in December I was setting
Buffalo nickels free. During the holiday season I spent, or left as tips, around 20 of the little fellas. Most were dateless and I thought it would be better to get them in the hands of a potential future collectors than hold on to them in a plastic tube, stored in a box, hidden in a closet.
One time I used a few buying lunch at a Chinese restaurant near work. The guy at the register saw them immediately and said, with a smile, "These are the old type of nickels!"
About two weeks ago, at the same restaurant, I got this in change:

Next December maybe I should spend a few silver quarters at the same restaurant and see what happens.
