By the way I bought the empty boxes and calls off ebay with no coins so I need to get my money back for those too.

I guess that must be Elks listing.
That said, I dont think he's breaking eBays rules just because he made his own set and is offering the 25 cent pieces versus the silver coins.
He does state in the top that the coins are the CUPRO-NICKLE VERSION OF SET "BRAND NEW at the top of the listing.
Also note in big colored letters he says "THIS SET IS MADE FROM THE 25 CENT CUPRO NICKEL COINS AND THE SAME CALL AND BOX AS THE ORIGINAL SET*
So, someone that has learned about the ducks unlimited silver coins does get a clue that they are NOT 100% silver.
So to me, I dont think he's being misleading. He is marketing his items, using the popularity of the silver ducks unlimited coins.
He is plainly stating what hes offering and you know, there might be folks out there that want all their duck coins in the case.
I dont think we should really get down him.

What's the big deal what coins are in the set if someone wants a the cupro coins in a set they can have it quit your whining no one is asking you to buy it. I can put dead duck feathers in it and sell it if I wish it is clearly labeled 25 cent coins if you are able to read. I'm not sure who exactly were you replying to. Anyway, I do think the idea of selling the box with the cheap cupronickel coins is great. The price is another history ...

I think Elk is probably exasperated if anything. I did get a laugh about him putting a dead feather in it lol

Ooo! As of today (the 12th) I have a pending charge on my credit card from the Mint. Looks like it's about to ship.

Why would you ever show a picture of the $10 silver coins and then state in your listing that the composition is cupronickel? That is just asking for trouble.

WELL- I guess we all learned the answer to this one,,, I too have learned. I been going back at this series as I want it and dug up data on recent auctions,,,,, prices have dropped hard here, anywhere from 20%-almost 40% off on some. Its staggering... even more disturbing is you can get graded ones for less than the mints release... to which I say, wow! CA has a set of these on sale at roughly 54.50 USD which isn't too bad.. however you can get about 10% more in a price reduction by stalking on ebay .... and I say this, if CA is slashing the price on these, I say then for sure prices will tumble even more... heck I saw a PF69 mallard for 64 USD, shipping included! guess I am waiting on these as well... man today has been an eye opener. ... and not only is it RCM, but this same thing has and is happening with Perth Mint, Royal Mint, etc.. you can go down the list all modern coins from mints are getting,, smashed in price.

All they, and not only, just over-saturated the marked with coins. If couple of years ago I was excited: "wow, con with this...coin with that", now I just do not care. About the Mallards - somehow managed to sell mine (that bought on the hype) for $5 less than issue.

Quote: Your prices include the box and duck call? No.....I bought 2 single coins, the silver and the CuNi. Immediately disliked the CuNi, but on the Silver one liked the colours. Unfortunately, the vibrant colorization wasn't enough for me to keep the coin, and I decided to sell them both.

Well, from the beginning the coins sold individually were not hot, just the subscription box.

I forget where I saw someone's comment but they said something like when the secondary market is weak, thats not good for the hobby and I have to agree. I mean I was looking at some other coins that I am NOT interested... and wow, same sort of price destruction, coins going for 40,50% from the mints list. As I said earlier, this isn't isolated to the RCM either.. I mean this is widespread... goes into other mints as well. I dont think the hobby dies but I think the core is going to get sick of this and walk away unless mints start pricing accordingly....

I think the majority of collectors are realistic about pricing when compared to silver spot pricing. It's the mints that have become greedy and have eaten up the added collector value on the coins, so there's no room for growth!! I wonder at production costs, they still pay artists for the lovely designs on bullion coins. So really how much more does it cost to make Nclt coins? I'm slowly switching to bullion. As the designs are still creative, and I can get 4 bullion coins for 1 Oz RCM Nclt coins. I just wonder how long before the mints see the light and change their pricing?
