Im confused. 1938 nickels. Did the make them both Buffalo and Monticello? I was checking ebay and I saw 1938d buffalo but I have in my collection a 1938 Monticello.

38 did in fact have nickels of both designs.

Oh ok. Can you tell I'm new to this? :) It should be Jefferson, not Monticello.

Ah, we all had to start somewhere. You can check the "US Coin Facts" section here on CCF (on the left under " US coins & Currency"). That lists the mintages for each design and denomination. You can see there that both the Jefferson nickel and Buffalo nickel were produced in 1938.

The Jeffersons and the buffalos are both a great series.
