I have made two very good deals on Craig's list.
Both involved wheats and Indian Head cents. Like
any transaction involving money and strangers, I
used caution and common sense. I have posted this
somewhere else on the forum but one was 662 wheat's,
11 1943 steel cents, 24 pre 1900 Indians and 33 1900
Indians.

Coins were $15.00 and I picked up a $2.00 Seiko watch
at the same time.

The other deal was a number of miscellaneous wheat's for
.04 cents each and Indians for .50. Nothing special but
nice.

Their are deals to be had...........just be careful. Good luck!

There just aren't many good coins on my craigslist. It is usually people thinking they found something that will make them rich. If it is something nice I will give a call though. I've probably bought coins from three different times off craigslist.

Like others have said, if you ignore the morons trying to sell ag liberty nickles for $25 because "they're over 100 years old!" and are patient then you can find deals.

I don't have any super scores, but my best was when replying to an add for 2 AU Indians (06 & 07)& a Fine 1909 for $15, I got the guy down to $10 and then when he didn't have change for my $20 he said "I have some Morgans with me too" I picked up 3 absolutely stunning MS-63+ commons (04-O, 80-S, 81-S) for $80 total.

The moral of the story is you never know, but meet in a public place!

I have bought a lot of craigslist. I posted an add hunting for coins and have gotten a couple calls. 1 guy had a collection of over $5000.00 in 90%. He ended up paying an acutioneer 20% to sell it for him. I told him if he gave me time to sell it off $200-500 90% at a time I would make him more money. He didn;t want to do it. SAD day for me. Though I have met many people by word of mouth after I gave them a good deal.

I've only had one Craigslist coin-related inquiry that even got a valid reply. It never turned into an actual sale because the guy wouldn't budge on his high prices. I ended up getting the same coins on ebay for about half his cost. I still browse occasionally but rarely find any killer deals there.

I have bought and sold many coins on craigslist. Like others have said, most coins are way over priced, people buy things on an impulse for way to much, and then put it on craigslist for a profit or to get their inflated buying price back. But if you are vigilant there are a lot of good deals.

I have never gotten ripped off on craigslist, the only bad experiences I have had is when people agree on a price and then back out or once agreed to meet and then never show up. I would much rather buy on craigslist than ebay.

I've just started looking for coins on Craigslist and it seems like the vast majority of what I find are "we want to buy your gold/silver" or people selling ASEs, junk silver, or gold.

The ONE time I've pursued a guy with Mercury's he acted like it was the end of the world that I wanted to actually look at the dates and not buy in lot's of 200. His posting said he'd sell his 3000 Mercs in 200 piece lots for $3.00 each. I jumped right on it and told him I'd be interested in all of them at $3.00 per 200. He got pretty offended and corrected me a few times saying, 'No, lots of $200 for $3.00 per dime.' I really wanted to give him a few pointers on grammar but let it slide. Instead I told him I was interested in starting a Merc collection and if he knew any of the dates. He responded back with, 'If you want to look at the dates they will be much more expensive.' I get that he was probably just trying to sell silver but I was pretty surprised at his attitude. I told him to just forget it and moved on with life. I'll keep looking and hoping but we'll see.

I thought I would take a look at Craig's List. I just saw like 20 wheat pennies and a few Buffalo nickels for $10, nothing special. I also saw 20 Buffalo nickels in a Whitman folder for $1000. I would hope there was a higher grade 1913S Type II in there for that price.

I have bought from Craig's list w/ no problems. It's also easier to talk haggle on the price in person.

I posted an ad for buying silver at 70% melt value and also for any foreign coins in bulk (said I would quote a price based on the coins and country of origin). I had a lot of luck actually, until I ran out of money to play with for a few months then never got back into it. Picked up a huge stash of Soviet Union roubles from 1977-1980 commemorating the 1980 Moscow XXII Olympics. I paid $40.00 for the bag, kept half and put most of the rest up for sale. Made over $200.00 on the sales. By the way, I find it a bit concerning that 4 people apparently woke up without kidneys due to Craigslist posts. :)

two rolls of halves for less than spot
a 15 ounce bar for 250$ when silver was over 30 an ounce

I sell on Craigslist every now and again.
I have strict rules about meeting in public places Cash only transactions and I require a copy of the buyers driving license. I put all this in my post and so far I have had no issues. though every time I do post on craigslist I get bombarded with spam for a month.
