So I was wondering where my 2013 Silver Proof sets were. I have a subscription for 2 sets. My CC info is up to date, have not changed my profile etc. So I go to my orders page and I find: 1. There is no tracking number available; 2. the cost for each set was 0.00 (wow- free!); 3. they charged me 0.00 (ooh I like!); and 4. They shipped the order on 5/06/13 What?! Here is a screenshot. I have to say they did get one of the past 4 orders correct in that I got my proof ASEs without a hitch. But this is getting ridiculous! I am afraid to order the new 2013 ASE two coin set for fear of having to go through a large mess like in the past two years! The last two years I have spent a lot of phone time getting my ASE special set orders to me. More phone play on Monday I guess

You're dealing with the government, the same govt that has the IRS, the state dept and the fed and yet you remain optimistic.

Keep phoning. That way you're dealing with humans. Ask for their name. The Canadian Mint (Royal, whatever) has very similar problems, so don't feel isolated.

Well...
I just got off the phone with Margie.
She was nice to talk to.
As is typical, she had canned responses to go through. First assuring me that the order was shipped etc. etc.
I read the info from the website page convering my order - and made sure to tell her this was where the info was posted, and this is what prompted my call.
She assured me that since I have a subscription, that the words "1 unit shipped" was referring to NEXT years shipment.
I asked he how this could be since it said it was shipped on 05/06/2013
Margie: Well even though it says "1 unit shipped," it is confusing b/c it really just means you have a subscription. So the email you got is wrong. Me: I am sorry Margie, maybe you did not hear when I said I am reading this off of your website? Margie: Oh... OK, let me check that out with my supervisor (aha! I finally got her passed the initial training to just appease the customer!). ...a few minutes pass OK, my supervisor told me that "1 unit shipped" means that you have a subscription to the silver proof sets. You see, since you made the subscription to these on May 2, the computer logged you as having a subscription on May 6. This is why the date shows up as shipped on May 6. It is confusing. Me: So "1 unit shipped 5/06/13" means I made a subscription on May 2, 2013?! Margie: Well my supervisor said to tell you that since you made the subscription to these sets on the day they became available that the computer could not register the order. You have to make subscriptions in our system a minimum of 5 days prior to the actual release date.
I let this go since it was very obvious the computer DID register the subscription and order since it said it was shipped almost 2 weeks ago!
i WIsh I could get these things at a different outlet without paying a premium. This place has been so very incompetent with my orders it is sad. However, I would rate the CS people themselves as sounding and acting very pleasant. It just takes some time to get things through to them.

Wow, that's pretty sad. I placed my first order last month for a few sets of ATB silver proof quarters and eventually received those no problems. When the 2013 ASE 2-coin set went up for pre-sale on May 9th, I placed an online order for that and also the 2013 ASE silver proof coin. I received the ASE Proof coin on Friday. On Thurs, I placed an online order for the newly released 5oz. ATB collector coin. They billed my card already, so, hope to receive this 5 ouncer pretty soon. So far so good... knock on wood.

I received my chaco's without issue. Sorry to hear you are having issues. Late on taxes or something? ;)

Actually... the message you displayed is exactly the one I have when I subscribed to any of the mints offerings. This message is just a confirmation of your subscription.
A.E. SILVER PROOF SUBSCRIPTION - 1 1 $0.00 $0.00 1 unit shipped on 12/18/2012 SILVER PROOF SET SUBSCRIPTION - QTY 1 1 $0.00 $0.00 1 unit shipped on 12/18/2012
That is exactly what mine showed when I subscribed to them back in December of 2012 - your message appears to me to be when you subscribed.
There should be another one with the actual order information and tracking, as well as an email that the item shipped and a billing charge as well as a tracking number. My coins have shipped just fine and I got a follow up message indicating the ship dates and a confirmation email as well.
2013 SILVER PROOF SET 1 $67.95 $67.95 1 unit shipped on 05/08/2013
I actually had 2 subscriptions - and got 2 proofs before I caught that I had subscribed twice.
So when did you actually subscribe to the subscription? Because the message you posted looks like you subscribed after the program had started shipping? You also might want to double check that because you probably have signed up for next years set - since you can't subscribe to this years set after they start shipping.

I just re-read your conversation with them... yeah you can't subscribe to a product that is already on sale. You have to be subscribed before they start shipping - at least a week in advance. I actually have had zero issues with my subscriptions, or most other orders from the mint. I'm not sure you can blame this on the mint - the notification you got was just a confirmation of your ordering a subscription. The same notification I got for all my subscriptions. Now the RCM is a whole different ballgame... product ships no notifications - no billing and months after it is scheduled... only ever doing a 1 time subscription with them.

The problem is in that the wording of the website order confirmation should not tell me the order was shipped. They did not "ship" the subscription.
Now I could understand back in the days of the Commodore 64 that they might have a little trouble making everything work together, but why in the world does the subscription notice even tie into the order-reporting area? They have a completely different area that shows which subscriptions a user has. plus - on the top of the page I took the snapshot of, there is an order number. So now signing up for a subscription gets an order number?
Come to think of it, even if it was a Commodore 64 running the system, all it would have taken was a couple of simple IF...THEN statement to straighten out the system.
Needless to say, I have to think they are running on the same system I have been told they were going to update since 2011.
I guess after having set up a school system on computer - years ago - with now primitive computers, I just expect a bit more from something like the mint - especially with modern computers.

Earle I agree the subscription notice seems odd, but that is really nit picking. If you had subscribed months ago it wouldn't have been an issue. Going forward you at least know now that you have to order the product when it is available, and subscribe to products you want in the future to just be shipped when they are available. I already have confirmation of my ASE and uncirculated sets - via the subscription process.
