I think it is funny that the Mint issued explanations and charts in their catalogues a few years ago explaining why coin prices were increasing as silver increased. Silver has been going down for a long time and is 30-40% less than it was a few years ago. Prices are still skyrocketing at the Mint, but I no longer see any explanations. I would at least have the decency to issue an explanation in a catalogue saying: "your price has gone up because I am a greedy ".

Is the butterfly coin part of a series? If it is, is it the first in the series?

This is a lesson to you children, read further back before posting so you know what everybody is talking about.

As for the series, this coin is deja vu all over again.

May-Release

But the new coin does not look like the old series. I like this coin but am not interested in it. Its a large coin and not cheep, but not over priced like the bee coin last month. If it is part of a series that would be cool but I have no real interest in purchasing this coin.

I guess I will take the chance with the new 50 cents tiger butterfly.
the way I see it, it's in copper with silver plating and it's 42mm. Bird series are in cupronickel and 35mm. So I think the extra 5$ is OK.

Thanks Dooby Rak, your lack of tact and condescension is always appreciated. I misread which forum I was in (two tabs open).

Funny if you also "read" up on a few pages back it also says it is indeed "First in series" or even in the pictures.

Now to find a picture of the $100 for $100.

Although this new butterfly silver coin isn't as outrageously priced as the bee architect coin, it's still priced at a premium. It isn't a full troy ounce. It's 28.02 grams so there is more of a premium on it than most other 1oz. offerings like the maple canopy. Also with it being 40mm, it's going to be fairly thin.

All above sounds good.
I will not ask the people if they really enjoy these benefits, but what is criteria to be an Elite MC Member?

mitung;
Did you get the "benefits of a dedicated account manager" from a Mint email today? I got the email as a MC Newsletter #3, with an introduction to someone named Chris, who is apparently "my rep". I did not ask for a rep, now I got one.
