Depositing them into your bank account is NOT the same as paying off debt!

Legal Tender, by definition, only require others to accept the Legal Tender coins as payment of DEBT (to the limit allowed by law)!

If anyone interested, do a research into the US National Bank (1863â€"1913)era (any local bank such as city/town/county/state/regional that applied for and accepted by the government would then be able to issue their own currencies). These banks issued notes are Legal Tender, however, some bank don't accept others notes (at par) for deposit (because they are not well recognize/reputation or just plain politic/business tactic to destroy each other).

If I was a teller, Id take them in the computer as cash ($20 bills). Then Id take my own $20 bills and replace them with the fancy new coins that were brought in. Obviously only a collector would think of something like this :)

RBC used to work closely with the mint. They lost their contract a few years ago. I learned this while trying to obtain mint coin from them. Many branches made me aware of this and I confirmed it with a mint rep.

I believe I'm not allowed posting images here until mint has them on the website, so I posted them on the RFD forum in case anyone wants to check them out.
