Possible 1956 Canadian Penny Off Metal Error?

Terim New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 04/27/2013 10:00 pm Hi guys, I just picked up this penny in a coin collection at a garage sale. It looks and feels like an off metal error. It's a bight lighter, the edges are white, and its got a silvery/gold finish to it. It also has extra metal on the reverse as seen in the pics which is indeed raised above the surface of the coin. The coin in question is on the left, the coin on the right is just a normal 1961 penny for comparison. If anyone can identify this for me that'd be great or any info at all would be nice. errorone2012 Valued Member Canada 334 Posts	Posted 04/27/2013 10:32 pm The extra metal on the reverse is the left over solder from a pin being attached to it . The cent was most likely plated with something to give it the colour you see . Report this Post to the Staff
Terim New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 04/27/2013 10:41 pm That's what my first thought was. But the odd penny definatley feels lighter then the normal. Unfortunately my scale broke last week and I haven't been able to get a new one so I can't confirm this yet. Report this Post to the Staff
