What is everyone's thoughts on how well these sets will hold their values? Do you think they will increase over time? 214k sounds like a lot but I do not specialize in the series.

I guessed awhile ago mintage would exceed 300K. I think 350, I ordered a set first day and will prob buy several graded sets. I did the same thing with last years set., and have one 70 set 3 69s a a raw. And have extra ogp, I plan on just keeping them and giving them to my kid in 30 years from now. Hopefully AG will be $150 an ounce then!!

Well have to see how the final mintage turns out. Last years set did big number in the last few days like it did in the first few days and that pattern seems to be repeating. The wild card is the new ASE in it. If this is the only year they do that type its value should rise regardless of mintage unless it does something absurd at the end. The mintage is high enough now that its likely a lot of sets are being bough to be sold. Ill take a guess that the 70s will see a good premium that will hold or increase but the raw sets will take a few years if not longer to pick up any premium with how available they will probably be on the market.

Not that I agree with silver being at that price but if that is your plan it would make sense to just buy bullion ASE's at around $25/each and save a boatload of cash...5 ASE's for the price of this set of 2 and some change left over. Personally, I think the future numismatic premium of this set will way exceed the intrinsic content.

I've been watching the set as well. I think I'll have to go ahead and pick one up. I really don't care what the final mintage is as I don't intend to flip them or even send them off to TPG. I just like the coins and would like to have them in my collection. I have a few bullion ASE's purchased from dealers so this will be my first purchase from the US Mint. Anything I need to know when purchasing from the mint?

The Mint is very easy to order from and the shipping charge is $4.95 irregardless of the amount or number of coins purchased. Just make sure you create an account using a CC that has an expiration date far enough away to prevent it expiring before your orders are shipped. Might be a good idea to browse around the site and add some other interesting tidbits to your order...any order over $300 gets shipped UPS 2nd day air for the same $4.95..no biggie if you just want the set though.

I agree, Fox. It's nice to hear a collector chime in. That's what I am. I have no concern whatsoever about mintage figures and/or future prices. I bought 'em just because I like 'em. Simplicity.

I'm with Metzger. I'm buying these for myself, not because they can be sold. So long as I breathe they'll stay in my collection.

Fox, thanks for the info on purchasing from the mint. Also thanks to you and the others for the collector comments. I really take that as a compliment. I've only been collecting for a few months so I'm still very much a rookie in the hobby. I wish I would have gotten started years ago. Again, thanks guys.

My thoughts on silver eagle "special" sets First off .. I want to say .. I like them .. and have all but the 1995 W. I have ordered one set .. and I am thinking about ordering another. But I wonder Why is the 2012 set cheaper than the 2006 set, but has lower mintage. I know one is 2 coin and one 3 coin set .. but per coin price 2006 seems to be higher. Is it possible some collectors are getting tired of so many sets ... 2011 ...2012 ... 2013 ... I bet there will be a 2014 .. For the 2013 ... am I right that both coins are unique? Do others think there will be any large amount of returns .. like there was last year ... which lowered the mintage ... Do you think the mint will offer a 2013 silver set (dime, quarter, half dollar and ASE), like the 2012 set .. I mean will they put one of these unique coins into another set .. like they did last year .. and up the mintage on one of them? Lastly ... the last two sets .. started shipping before the posted shipping date .. what guesses are there .. for when they will actually start shipping .. My guess is June 10th

I've heard that these coins (or at least the Enhanced ASE) will be exclusive to this set this year and I've also heard that the mint never said that to be fact. I haven't dug into the research to find out which is correct. Anyone have a good resource for the truth?
