It looks to me that the die broke off and then stuck to the struck Lincoln Cent.

How do I know it is glue? Heat it up or put it in acetone bath?

If it were a Cud, the reverse would show weakness. Something ON the coin.

I never thought it was a Cud. It can not be.
But I used to think that it has a broken die piece stuck on the obverse. I will give it an acetone bath.

That would be a glop of glue there Mr. fly guy. If it is Elmer's glue, it will be water soluble while superglue would be soluble in acetone.

After acetone soaking, the whole piece comes off. It is not solvable in acetone. A good lesson.
