I found this at the thrift store awhile ago. Someone has made a pendant out of it, the silver around the sides is not original. Was going to wear/sell it as jewelry but curious what it is!

There doesn't appear to be any numbers or easily distinguishable language/symbols that I am familiar with... just geometric patterns. I think it is copper but not sure. 0.75 inch diameter. It looks.... old?

Here is a link w/ pics:

I'm pretty sure it's Indian, they usually do that style with the dots and patterns on the ancient ones, for example http://rareindiancollectibles.blogs...shan-or.html

It's a fantasy piece. Not a genuine coin.

hmm interesting. I did a little research and the designs look similar to those found on indo sassian coins, so how do you differentiate between a real coin and a fantasy piece? what would be the purpose of this sort of fantasy coin in the first place, and when was it likely made?

i am not a collector and have zero knowledge of coin-related stuffs but it is neat to learn :)

Looks genuine to me, but I am no more than a badly skilled authenticator.

If it were a Sassanian coin there would be writing in the margins, not just designs.

Does the coin look like this on the other side as well?

This figure is of an Indo Sassanian coin from the Piplaj hoard and belongs to the 8th Century approximately.
