I can attest to Kirk's honesty, and desire to resolve situations, so I too am interested in jake's response.

Hello: In regards to the statement about selling Counterfeit Coins. We here at Colonial Acres Do not knowingly sell Counterfeit coins with the intentions to profit from these sales. Upon discussing this topic with the RCMP over this in the past we were made aware that coins illegitimately created for the intentions of profiting from them and committing fraud are illegal to re-sell at any value even if properly attributed and being sold as a contemporary fake. (We see a lot of these leaking out of China and various countries where counterfeiting is not monitored by government officials as closely as our own here is Canada.) I think the area that needs some clarification on this topic are the Replica's and Copy coins created with the intentions of being advertised and sold exactly as that. These coins are almost always made of copper and or silver and are never the correct weight these are also clearly stamped Copy and or Replica directly on the coin itself. (in a sense it has been defaced) We often see these being sold on Television, or on infomercials and are created by Subsidiary Mints or manufacturing firms here in North America. (Example: National Collectors Mint) The coins we had were examples of Canadian coins that are extremely rare that most collectors or dealers will never be able to find or buy (Example: 1911 Silver dollar, 1890H 50-cent, 1870 No LCW 50-cent, 1921 5c & 50-cent ect..) These coins were struck from Copper and Silver plated with a Proof Finish and clearly Stamped "COPY" on them. They typically sold for $20-30ea, well below the Thousands to Millions of dollars that the real examples would normally sell for in today's market. To the best of our knowledge with the conversation we had with the RCMP regarding the sale of these type of coins, our understanding from this conversation is that coins that have been properly stamped "copy" and or "Replica" are fine to sell. Assuming nothing has changed since we had this discussion with the RCMP I would hope our understanding of this law is correct. -Colonial Acres P.S. I know ebay has their own tolerance's regarding these and I believe they have banned the sale of any type of Replica's and Copy's.

There is no need for clarification. The law is clear. You are using USA acceptance with the word copy or replica. I will forward a copy of your last post to Sgt. Tony and we shall see if he told you any of the copy or replica stamps as you claim.

For some reason I just don't buy what Colonial Acres is saying, it seems like they are just trying to cover up what they don't want to admit. Would you honestly expect the workers to admit something that could possibly get them fired?
I mean seriously if I were to go into a store go in there, plan to buy a really nice coin, I forget my wallet- go back to my car and suddenly the price has doubled I would raise ALL of heck. I mean it almost seems like Colonial Acres was trying to get some more $$ and just didn't really care for the customer's satisfaction. If I were running a business I would be a fair dealer so I would gain a better reputation with my customers, because that means more $$. Now I don't know how Colonial Acres is gonna recover their reputation, but I hope you do.And also try hiring some reputable employees that actually know what the heck they are doing.
Sincerely, CoinCollector2000

I for one can vouch for Colonial Acres. I have dealt with Kirk a bunch of times and he has been very honest and fair. There store front is small but and the place is always very busy. I assume they are moving to another location because there business is expanding and they have outgrown there current location. Keep up the good work guys and good luck with the new store.

I would like to see jake chime in! If any member would like to see if this is fact or fiction then just pay Kirk and Todd a visit and they will be happy to show you the video. As for the copy or replica's, well that's another story.

A few years back Colonial Acres listed unmarked Chinese counterfeit coins on ebay. They did note that the coins were fake, but who knows where they would ultimately end up.I felt this was very irresponsible and have bought nothing from them since.

You are not mad at Colonial Acres, you had a bad experience with two inept employees, whose conduct should be related to the management/owners. As a small business owner myself, with an occasional employee, I can tell you RIGHT now that if a customer had a bad experience with someone purporting to be representing the name I bled, sweat, and fought for to establish, I would value that feedback.
Good help is hard to find, as unfortunately most of these jobs are low paying, and thus, there is no incentive to do more than the basic amount needed to keep the biweekly check coming in. I would fix that problem by offering the staff a choice between slightly higher than minimum wage/hour, or a little less with a commission, to at least get them pushing sales.

Anjohl - If you read through the remarks, it sounds as if the owner (or Kirk, who is related to the owner) did take this serious, spoke with employees, and reviewed the film footage. They claim that jake's version of events are completely wrong. I am sure that if anyone wants to review the footage, they would allow it, so I can't imagine they are making this up.
Coincollector - Once again, it's not just that they are taking some employees word for it. They have numerous cameras in the store that could easily determine if jake ever even returned. By the sounds of it, he never did. Also, he wasn't buying a really nice coin. He was buying a $6, $12, or $24 coin (depending on whose version you believe, and whether the discount was already included).
I think we can all agree that the employee wasn't the owner. Given that, what benefit would there be for the employee to mark up the prices after the fact? They have cameras everywhere, it's not as if he's going to be able to pocket the difference or anything. Even if he earns a commission, were talking about maybe $1.
With all due respect to jake, his story doesn't add up for me - even without CA chiming in.

We are now in possession of the video.
We watched the entire video after reading the original post several times. There is no evidence of any wrongdoing. In fact the video goes for another 10 minutes after the OP goes out "to get his wallet" and he never returns to the store.
