I love how the Lenticular (with unlimited mintage and worthless metal) is worth more than the Vintage superman with a 1/4oz of silver and 15,000 mintage.

Quote: Canada Post is re-selling the 5 pack of 10 Superman stamp books now @ .85 each for $42.50 total. For those that missed them the first time Thanks for the info. I held off from buying them from ebay since I was told they would be coming back after the stamp increase. Some of them are going for $50+.

I like the idea of the coin and the fact that there is some Canadian in the creation and they do look nice so I went and bought all but the gold one . I like the display case that comes with the coins and the man is an enduring character of good against evil so how can I resist .

@WSDcoins....does the L set have unlimited mintage? which implies they are still being produced..Although the official mintage figures are practically non existant the general consensus I believe is about 20K..the mintage figure is not given in any of the S man release magazines or on the set itself or on the RCM site which may lead to the unlimited mintage conclusion..when I last broached this question the members seemed convinced it was 20 K

the Superman Lenticular set has been SOLD Out at the RCM for a long time now ..you would think that if in fact it is produced on demand then it wouldnt sellout would it? and looking at the gatewest link it also reads Sold Out....so I'm not convinced that this set is still being produced...are there other examples of RCM mintage that remain unlimited in production? and remember it has a 2013 date on it as well so its unlikely they will keep minting a dated coin year after year..why dont one of us members call them and see if we can get a definitive answer? The L Set is far more popular than the Vintage coin for all kinds of reasons the chief one being the unique coin design comic artistry followed by the packaging and stamp value..besides a half oz of silver is only worth 10 bucks these days

and the vintage coin being only 1/4 oz costs 5 bucks in bullion..the L set is more expensive to produce..it has to cost more to mint it and it is way more popular probably than most of the series

wait for the 2013 mint report to get actual mintage figures.

CASSIDY77 I was simply making reference to the fact that it was to be produced to meet demand. Now whether or not the RCM actually did that is a different thing. They are technically allowed to mint as many as needed.

Hello all, I am new here and starting to look into coin since I got 3 Superman coins for christmas this year! I have since look at the mint.ca site daily, but have yet to pull the trigger on other coins, but it will come. I was displaying my coin today, and looked at the mintage and it got me thinking if the number of the coin could influence its value? In sport cards it sometime can but the number is ON the card. My Man of Steel is 7777/10000 for exemple. I don't want to sell it, just got me wondering about the whole number thing. Tks you :)

Some numbers "could" influence it's value, but in NCLT is uncommon and anyways, if someone is willing to pay you more because HE likes the numbers, good for you.

@rvdjeep... coa numbers do count ...low numbers are more sought after and your row of 7s is higher value due to the obvious popularity of the number 7..so given a choice of 5 similar items someone will always pick your 7s because of the lucky 7 factor and that could translate into a much higher cash payout.....but in general the higher the mintage the more likely that the first 10 units will achieve a much higher premium ie 15 July, 2013 An international bidding frenzy has a seen a silver Dr Who 50th anniversary commemorative coin sell for more than 15 times its $155 face value. The coin, made of .999 silver and struck by New Zealand Mint in collaboration with BBC Worldwide, features an engraved picture of the iconic TARDIS as well as a unique 50th Anniversary logo. The coin, with a certificate authenticating it as the first of a limited 10,000 mintage, sold on e-Bay for NZ$2,600.00 to a Canadian bidder â€" a 1577 per cent increase on the normal retail price.
