Well as long as they are legally allowed to sell this things then why not jump on the band wagon? Buy 10 for 50 bucks and sell each one for $40 as a replica... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/SUPERMAN-Fin...662566337551 Still there will always only be 2000 of the real ones , not like Name brand hand bags etc where they are unlimited production , then ya fakes are going to effect the value,But I don't see this happening with 2000 mintage real gold superman coin .In fact it could increase the value as the fake ones act as an advertisement so to speak for the real ones. Most serious collectors if not all are not going to want a fake gold superman coin.

Quote:I note that there are very few Superman gold coins for sale these days..only 5 solo coins for sale on ebay including one of mine for 2500.00 obo.. This indicates ,in my view, that the secondary market is now almost completely sold out and Superman gold prices will only rise from here on. Most of these gold coins will never leave their collections......strong seller resistance at 1700.00USD or 2000CAD .. i earlier predicted 3,000 for Superman gold by this summer..2 of the 5 solo coins for sale are at 2500 UDS which is around 2800 CAD and the rest are parts of full sets selling for 3000 CAD up to 5000CAD plus..... Fewer gold coins on ebay does not mean the secondary market is completely sold out. It could be many things; like people moving on to other coins or collectibles. Or the interest in Superman coins have declined as we are almost one year into their release. I suspect the latter because the number of silver Superman coins for sale on ebay has also decreased drastically. Last year when the coins were hot there were hundreds of listings for each silver coin. Now they are down to a few dozen per coin. The Superman coins are simply not hot anymore As for your predictions, none of them have come true. You predicted the gold superman coin would reach $3000 by Christmas and that did not happen. As I recalled there was only one gold coin ever sold for $3000 and that was early on. And you keep confusing asking prices on ebay with completed sale prices. It is irrelevant how high the asking price is if no one is going to pay that price. Looking over completed ebay sales, there were only two gold Superman coins sold in the last month. One was in the $1500 range and the other in the $1600 range. No matter how you cut it, the market value of the gold Superman coin is between $1500 and $2000. No one is willing to pay above that price. Basically, aside from the initial frenzy of the first few months, the prices have stabilized. They are not going go any higher. The prices of the silver Superman coins have also dropped. Some of them are now selling for below issue price.

@ silveroid and Moneypenny....as you know ...ive got a pretty strong opinion about the value of the Superman release...especially the gold coin...which basically says that collectors will always choose a certain and proven winner to invest in. It will still take some time for the Superman gold to prove itself worthy of being more than a quick flip coin. Most of the insipid RCM NCLT coins will certainly lose value over time unless the precious metal index advances. This is not likely with the Superman coins due to the popularity of the Superman brand genre in collecting circles. If you are going to pick NCLT coins to invest in ..Superman coins are in the top 20% worth putting money into. Thats all I'm really saying.....the time factor is a necessity of course...time will tell and no authoritative discussion can take place before a few more years goes by but in the meantime all we can do is dare to predict or laugh at the predictions of others...........meanwhile I'm expecting a superman gold back from NGC any day now which I will list on ebay so I will let you know how it graded out

I can agree about gold coin. Yes, will not drop in value (near $2000), but also, in my opinion, the coin will be forgotten and will not have such demand. So...the seller will not sell for less (cause he knows, that it valuable item) and the buyer will just not buy.
The Silver Superman coins - different story. $20 above issue max - I do not think, that this is "investment"

@silveroid.....i agree ..making 20 bucks on a superman coin isn't investment. Personally I wouldnt say for sure if one could profit much from Superman silver at this point. In fact it is not wise to predict the market in coins without some sort of qualifying caution. My predictions usually contain some sort of qualifier to make up for my overstatement .....It actually is way too early to tell how the Superman coins will play out in the long term. Most of my attention has been drawn to the gold coin. I find your attitude about the superman coins interesting but also overstated. All I can say is that if the Superman gold coin will be forgotten then I dread to think about the fate of the rest of the mostly boring Canada NCLT program. I hold generally to the 80/20 principle of coin investing..that is....20% of the coins will make 80% of the return....With regards to Superman this would make the gold coin and one other silver coin the best buys for return. I think most would agree that Man Of Steel or Hologram is the most likely candidate but personally I've always favored the simple Shield coin....Time will tell but it would appear that the PF 70 slabbed coins are getting consistantly better prices especially now that the dreaded fakes are becoming widely available.

Ok, no way. If you think a Superman Gold Coin is a better investment than a Krugerrand or a Gold Maple, you are insane.

ok ...anjohl..so your definition of insanity is an investment in a numismatic coin that will probably appreciate due to scarcity and demand ......as opposed to a bullion coin that will price according to the metals index........There are no guarantees either way......but its more interesting than collecting .8 percent interest at the bank.....or losing money on the metals index

Quote: Fakes ? Absolutely. The set is cool - for the small kids. Worth $20 with box and free shipping. From one side - fake and should be shutdown. From other - nice reminder, that no collectible and "useless" item is really valuable.

To an 8 year old kid, a $20 set is just as fun as a $3000 set.

Quote: To an 8 year old kid, a $20 set is just as fun as a $3000 set. That's correct. I just wouldn't buy fake set for $20 in order not to support fakes. But will buy for kid the official replica, or something like this, if will be issued by legal party.
