Hey guys I have a denarius of Mark Antony coin that my dad gave me and I was wondering if it is fake or not, it has a bit of orange-copper color on it. Is this a fake copper coin that is silver plated? Sorry I can't provide pictures

Uh, it could be badly cleaned. Some acids leach silver from the surface but not copper, leaving behind a slight copper hue. Vinegar can do this to a coin. But its not possible to say without a picture as ancients are all very varied.

 It's not very good quality but this is the reserve and there is some orange spots if you can see them, do you think it's fake? |

Full disclosure, if I saw that on ebay, id stay well clear. But with the images provided, I couldnt say for certain either way. Clear pictures of both sides (and the rim) would easily settle it. I'm not seeing the orange spots though. Sometimes, something can be spilled and drops may have landed on the coins face and reacted. Who knows? |

Call it a real coin buddy. 99 percent of coins of this period are copies, that includes bronze. Visit your local museum and chat with one of the staff there that knows what they are talking about and they will set you straight. Even the 'experts' most of the time can't tell real from early repro and whether that is a welcome fact to many here or not, it's a very true one.
You will never soar like an eagle if you hang around with turkeys.....

Need to see both side of the coin. You reverse image is a bit blurry so it's difficult to say if it's real from just that image.

Sorry, its neither silver nor real. Its cast from two halves - the edge shows this pretty clearly. The discrepency is where the impressions havent matched up for the casting. Maybe you should go buy a real one to put next to it - they are pretty common and not extremely expensive.

Yep, I agree with Ben, they are common, There are 3 places within 10 miles of me that you can buy them from, in fact they will make you one while you wait!
