Or maybe the dealers took a larger slice of the Caribou so there are fewer available for the mint to sell directly?

Yeah, it is obvious on the no limits. But people were counting down the caribou.

It looks like I'm lucky for 2 reasons, first I made master club ordering my superman coins and secondly I must of got a caribou in the nick of time. I was trying to decide what to order, and finally placed my order at 6pm mountain. I wanted both the second coins in tradition of hunting and banknote, as I have the first coins. Like someone said, I'll pick those up later, and maybe at a discount. So I ordered the polar bear and caribou. Then on a second order, I got The 1 Oz O Canada sub. I know I will like the coins and the box. I'm partial to walnut. Maybe down the road they'll offer a 6 coin half Oz Sub with a wooden box to entice people. Like I said in my previous post, it's sad to offer a cardboard box for a classic Canadiana series like these are. I bet they'll end up repackaging the new series 3 different ways, by this time next yr. I wonder with the 3 different series packages for the half Oz coins, does it mean there are 3 separate limited edition sets? 1) with 12 coins & wooden box/2) the set of 6 in cardboard box 3) set of 12 with gold. Interesting way to pitch the same 40,000 coins, yet make the sets uniquely different. Thus appealing to the different sectors of the population based on price and length of commitment. It does focus on the different demographics.

I just remembered, someone mentioned 3 coins were commissioned by dealers. Anyone have any guesses as to which coins they are?

The 5 oz. beaver design looks similar to the first coin by Canadian Coin Currency and probably the caribou coin with the limits.

Just spoke to the mint. The agent thinks that the Caribou was an external commission so they had a smaller allotment available to sell.
He told me also that the Polar Bear coin will probably sell out at around 10:30 or 11:00 this morning, so order yours if you're interested.

Apparently the 3 CCC commissioned coins you will receive an autographed slip by the designer along with the order.

I am still think about Lakes Subscription... Just afraid that I will not like the coins. ***Added: Did the subscription for Lakes, I want to see them in personal first, and then to decide, should I continue. Bit later will buy the Hunting coin...Or from CP. It is not good combine subscription with other coins in one RCM order.

I wouldn't rush out to buy the coloured animal coins on speculation just yet guys. I'm sure CanadaPost will have them in stock.

im not ordering anything...ill wait 3 months an get everything I want at a discount. All the coins that are awaiting stock right now will be easy to find down the road......really the only coins this year that were hard to get after were the glass butterfly......and......not much else. The superman coins are hot but everyone had a crack at them but no one bought......This year kinda ruined RCM coins for me. I got the 2013 1/2 oz sub and with all the delays and re packaging and select sets it turned me off it and will not be getting any new subs. The only sub I'm kinda interested in is the 2014 1oz sub with walnut box...the box is nice but the coin themes are lame IMO....like the skiing one...no thanks.....I like the 2014 gold sub because its all animals....but its way to pricey for me. I think 2014 will be a year for me to collect a set of 2014 world bullion coins...kinda like a self made fab15....

I have to assume that the Caribou (and maybe the Iconic Polar Bear) is commissioned since it went so fast and that fact is a deal killer for me. I just think there are too many of these dealer coins and I don't want to support the Mint going in that direction. IMO, it is creating artificial markets.
I liked the O Canada series' in 2013 and bought both the 1/2oz and 1oz Ag despite the high mintages. Clearly, they have little chance to appreciate in value but the coins and presentation is great. However, the recycling and repackaging of the same coins really irks me. I won't buy the 2014 because of the that and quite frankly, at $400ish a set, I don't need another series that is so similar or a monthly payment plan. At least the Great Lakes is 'different' albeit expensive. BTW, I am still trying to envision how five coins with similar blue enamel will look in the display box. Could be good, but could be boring too - the devil will be in the details.
So, this release is a close on 2013 (hopefully). Did anyone do a count of how many products have been released this year? I think the number will be scary. Happy Halloween!

CC-Ottawa right.
I also do not see any need to "destroy" the uniqueness of the 2013 O Canada sets by ordering also 2014. And the coins for 2013 have been more interesting. (the same I felt about fractional sets).
Lakes - something different and new, they might be looking boring, but this we will see in the future.
Coloured Animals...well, they coloured, and this type of colorization, IMO "kills" the beauty of the Proof finish.

Maybe my eyes are just not picking up the details, but I don't see any geographic frame of reference on the Lake Superior coin. I see the blue lake but I don't see anything that tells me where the lake is located - there's not enough surrounding geography that is recognizable. To me, the depicted lake could be anywhere in the world.
Am I just missing it?
