Well I decided and went with the Polarbear and Caribou!I used to be a purist, meaning no colour on coins, as I thought it deminished the actual beauty of the coin and different metal finishes. Even though I still strongly agree with this, I have to admit after being introduced to some of the coloured coins, my tune has changed.
If they look good I can't really complain, and these really do look good. They will be a nice addition to any other 1oz wildlife coins.
Again IMO, the 5oz, I like, lots of nice detail, a beautiful work of art, and shows an underwater world that draws the viewer right in.
The greatlakes subscription I am on the fence about.
and the 1.5oz Polarbear, I tthink I will pass on and live with my bullion version
I see everyone is comparing the 2013 and 2014 O'Canada sets.
IMO, I gotta go with the 2013 half ounce and one ounce versions. Maybe will get a couple individuals for 2014.

Thank you, arianzo. This sounds good. Will make the entire set more unique. ("RARE!" according to some ebay sellers)

November coins already begin to appear on Kijiji with much inflated prices on the Caribou ($149.95)!

I mentioned 1500 boxes on page 11, at the bottom. Btw, there are about 570 left. For those who are sitting on the fence with Polar Bear: about 300 left.

I'm working on a list of 2013 issues and will create a new topic for it when done (unless someone else posts it first) but is truly is scary. So far, I've identified 194 separate items at a total cost of over $300k. Interestingly though, if I take out high end gold coins (anything over $900), the total drops to a very reasonable $20k or so.

I've seen the URL on the other forum...
Someone, who identifies as "Angus Coin Shop" listed November release on Kijiji...with all the pictures.
Btw, it could be real Angus, and also someone who wants target Mint's attention to real Angus.
Another thing - "2014 $20 FINE SILVER COLORIZED COIN - POND HOCKEY" - which much much better then coloured caribou and polar bear - listed for $12 - Fake!

Yes, you both correct...it is a typo.
Dangerous mistake. I just thought, according to the low price, that I first recognized "copy".

too scary to have fake listed for sale before the real one got released.. it's like fake panda bullion all over again.

Is there really national interest in the Great Lakes series? Would the interest come mainly from people living in the area like Ontario? I live in BC and the Great Lakes coins do not interest me at all. I will hard pressed to name all 5 of them.

@ MoneyPenny I saw Canuck1US who is originally from the Maritimes had a similar reaction to yours, and I think you nailed it--the most interest in this series will be from Ontario collectors. (And from some of the adjacent states, too, I guess.) Mind you, that's a huge chunk of the Canadian population and so I expect the Great Lakes series will do well.
