No, guys, I do not think, that interest in Lakes series relates to geographical location.

This is something new, so I believe, many collectors here and overseas (that even do not know which city is Capital of the Canada) will like it as coin.

Were Superman coins bought mainly by Superman fans?
Or the Ducks Subscription by the ducks lovers?
Do not think so....

I think the Great Lakes series are nice looking coins but not so different that I would buy them for that reason alone.

I bought the Superman holographic coin, not because I am a Superman fan but because it is unique.

I bought the duck subscription because I am a Ducks Unlimited member and they are nice looking coins.

If there was an enameled Bay of Fundy coin...I would probably get that!

I'm from Ontario. What's the Bay of Fundy?

The great lakes coin looks interesting. I would normally like to see these things in hand first, but that free case sold me on it. Sounds silly but I'm just being honest. I like a good presentation.

With all the excitement about the coloured coins and subs I missed the pond hockey coin. It looks great! I'm surprised I haven't read any real mention of it.

Typically here in Tennessee, things pertaining to Canada don't make the headlines too often. However, just recently, the two pieces of news that do make it here are (from my home province of NS), "Sacred White Moose Killed by Hunter" and, just today, video of Rob Ford yet again fleeing reporters while being questioned about the infamous smoking video now in the hands of police.

So to better reach the American collector the RCM could produce a coloured silver coin featuring an albino moose (maybe not such a bad idea - just not a dead one!) and reissue the Toronto map coin with a special Venetian glass crack pipe appended to it! (another first!)

I bit on the great lakes sub and the coloured animals. I like that the enameling on the great lakes coins is clear and shows the underwater contours of the lakes. I don't think they will ever be hot, but as a Environmental Studies major, it's an interesting topic to me. I think the blue contrasts well with the silver. A little expensive though, at least it offers something more than the Great Hare coin.... :rolls eyes:

Why does the great lake sub restricted to Canada only?
Anyone want to sign up for the sub for me, I'll pay for the extra shipping cost to USA, while you earn/retain credit for your MC status?
I would want at least 1 to 2 subscriptions.

I really like these coin, especially if they are together as a set.

For non MC members, I've just phoned RCM and placed an order for the great lake sub (I'm not a MC member yet). I think you can just order any coin by phoning them and they will take your order if the coin is still available.

Caribou back available on RCM website & Great Lakes subscription is now available to all! In cancelling my order for Great Lakes coin due to ordering the subscription, I finally asked about how I can get a rep. I just did this all online & will wait for a reply.

Yes, Caribou is available again, but Great Lakes subscription is for MC members only.
Btw, there are 115 Polar Bears left.
