"I wish it was coloured"
Online talk, or noting the success (and premium) of the German after-market colourizations? But, we definitely have two camps. One that complain that something wasn't colourized, and the other that looks at colourization as a gimmick and wants the tranditional skills to carry things.

I used to hate colored coins & now will buy if I like but do still prefer just metal. Changing times & I myself keep changing.

Quote: The last duck coin is supposed to be in jan 2014. From Gatewest website when they were selling the duck subscription when it was released. So I'm not sure why people were thinking it would be nov? I admit I am surprised Gatewest can know this, or at least admit to knowing--I thought authorized dealers were not allowed to discuss not-yet-released coins? However, if this is correct, I appreciate the information and glad it's not right at Christmas! (My credit card bill won't be so bad. heheheh) As to why November, it was because the Mallard pair came out in March, and the Wood Duck pair in July, an interval of 4 months. November is another 4 months later so I was hoping.

I just find it kinda strange releasing the last duck coin in 2014, when the set says on the box ducks 2013.....just curious if its going to say 2014 on the coin....

Also I am one that is not going to buy anything this month. As for the subscriptions just wait until they are complete and get it cheaper as a whole later on like the 2013 1/2oz set. Colonial acres had it cheaper then list for the whole set on sale and pay no taxes......I have been able to acquire about %75 of the coins I was interested this year for below list a couple months after...sometimes even 25% to 30% below list....also every time I went to the PO they had all the coins even the ones that sold out fast and there's no waiting for the mints 4 month shipping special....

What is your view on the Great Lakes subscription specifically? The set has a better box than the cardboard ones, consists of 5 coins, and from descriptions, it seems to have some degree of relief and undergoes a special enameling process. So far, I'm attracted to the presentation of the set and the enamel coins I've received so far have been splendid. Just not feeling the connection with the Lakes specifically... Another thing to consider is that this particular subscription is limited to 1,500 if I read correctly.

Hopefully this makes sense to people. In my opinion with the Great Lakes coin set, they missed a huge opportunity to make a bigger impact with their presentation of the coins. They could have made the coins sit in the box in a geographically more accurate setting than their 2 top 3 bottom arrangement. Having the coins set into a map of the lakes area would have been amazing as well as having blue flock, and a darker maple case.

Wow, I'm with somecoinguy on the "box in a geographically more accurate setting", it would have been awesome.

I agree on the case also but at least it isn't a cardboard case!

@somecoinguy Now that you mention it, that would've been a great idea. Lets hope the coins are spectacular and well done.

It's a released subscription. You can check right now the new RCM subscriptions and it's indicated the monthly release of every coin. For example the famous Lakes subscription is indicated each of the next 4 coins in which month we should receive it (if nor delays) so isn't something a dealer has to keep the secret. Moreover, read the description, in red, last line: http://store.gatewestcoin.com/cgi/v...number=13168
