Canadian Bank Note Series: Saint George Slaying Dragon looks real good.
I'm think I'm getting the dino for my grandson and the bank note for myself :-)

just looked on ebay at the last bank note and the last dino, wow they are a LOT cheaper on ebay then they were new....maybe I should hold off.

The coloured Caribou and Polar Bear 1 oz coins are also nice. Reminds me of the bullion coins that have been coloured post mint in the past.

@CC-Ottawa:

Do the Caribou and the Polar Bear both coloured?
And what about the design - the paint covers the animal, while the surface is mirrored?

Are you sure that 2014 O Canada comes in the cardboard boxes, is it subscription?
The 2013 1oz O Canada is animal-themed, and what is the theme for 2014?

Sorry for my impatience...I should wait just one day.

Yes and yes.

Both are coloured. The animals and foreground are coloured and the background is regular proof finish. Virtual all of the coin is engraved. Looks really good IMO.

For the Caribou and Polar Bear the animal and ground are coloured. The background is plain silver of various textures. The 3 2014 O Canada sets (10 coin 1/2 oz silver, 4 coin 1/10 oz gold & 5 coin 1/2 oz silver) are all subscription. Only the box for the 1/2 oz silver is shown open and it looks cardboard to me. The other two show a similar cardboard box but closed so I can't say for sure if there is a wooden box inside (like the 2013 sets) or not. The redone 2013 O Canada set with the gold plating is a wooden box inside a cardboard box.

I think the 1/2 oz. Fine Silver Coins
O Canada 10-Coin Subscription and the
1 oz. Fine Silver Coins
O Canada 5-Coin Subscription
both look good but they will be like this years set ... they mix the nice wildlife coins in with the ugly scenery coins.

Odd that only 10 coins are listed for 1/2 oz yet there are 12 holes in the 'box' for coins..

Nothing here will sell out very quickly IMO, so I'll be waiting until they are on line with full specs. Maybe the 1 oz is a wooden box inside that cardboard (I doubt it) but we'll see tomorrow I guess.

Appreciate, CC-Ottawa and kuh_85 and falcon for clarifications.

Thanks a lot.

I hoped, my "animal" theme will be "quiet" for November, but looks like need to do the selection.

@CC I'm only seeing 5x2=10 holes in the box for the 1/2oz series :-)

Nice, but too many.

Planning to skip the 1/2oz.

And to subscribe for 1oz only if it has a wooden box.
If not - looks like I'll buy "Igloo" (do not remember any igloo coins) and Arctic Fox.

Also assuming that 1/2oz will be mate-proof, and 1oz traditional Proof finish.

There is also the 5oz swimming beaver. Mintage 1500. Overpriced at $519.95. But I'm a sucker for the 5oz ones :(
I think the colored caribou, polar bear, pond hockey are nice as well.

As well,,, I'm not buying into the subscriptions this time. I thought about the 1/2oz one.... I might just buy the colored one when it releases.

Bad news confirmed. All of those 2014 O Canada sets feature a cardboard box.
