Quote: So unless somebody is faking GSA's, I doubt these are counterfeit. You might want to click on the link in my previous post because somebody is faking them. Neither the box nor the COA offer any help in authenticating the coins since they can be bought.

These are Razzy's coins. 1880-CC on Top (Possibly Couterfeit - The 1881, 1884, and 1885 holders look the same as well), 1882-CC on the bottom (Geniune) You can really see the difference in the holders quality. Figures 8 & 9 From D0ubl3Eagle's Link *Notice the spacing between letters as well.

Oh sh.... They're definitely fake. They're missing the tab on the reverse. Here's a legit one of mine; OP, contact the police. The '82 is real, the others are fake.

Good Eye FadetoBlack, I didn't realize the tabs were missing.

The 82 is real and the rest are 100% not real. Contact your local police department. I hope you get your money back.

Call the police, screw contacting the guy, that might tip him off... police will probably not do much unless you're willing to meet with him again to "buy" more or something... then they would have solid evidence against him to prosecute him for peddling counterfeits. Or maybe the cops in your area are halfway decent and will help you out... at any rate, talk to them first.
If the number isn't reachable, it could just be turned off right now... or it could be a prepaid he bought specifically for this and then ditched it, but I doubt that.

OP, I know you're probably feeling like crap right now, but can you get a look at or post an image of the certificates you got with the coins?

Ouch!
Work with the police. Do not tip off the seller that you are on to him. I bet he's got more of these he is trying to move.

i talked with the police - they said I have basically 0 chance of recovering what I lost i have to call the FBI and go from there - I feel like a total fool i think I was too excited about the coins that I didn't "expect" to be scammed and take more precautionary measures. it's SO OBVIOUS if you compare the holders side by side - even the coins themselves are different but you either have to have them side by side or I would've had to go in there knowing what the fakes looked like :(
not only does this upset me b/c I lost the money but also b/c I really was excited about finally owning some nice coins - nothing I've ever owned has even been close to the rarity and quality of what I thought I was purchasing

When this thread started I thought you were buying the coins from someone you knew. I see that is not the case. Too bad someone along the way didn't mention the number of fakes out there. Instead people focused on the deal. I hope it works out. If the guy does this enough I have to believe he will get caught.

Another thing to notice is how the '82 looks like it has a grainy surface compared to the others.
