Can't believe how much this is going for. http://www.ebay.com/itm/35162993141...RK:MEBIDX:IT I would've been a buyer at their opening bid but it's gotten out of hand. Very nicely altered but the last feather position really gives it away lol...

Yeah, that's a fake for sure, the 7's give it away, not even close, along with the last feather.

Raymo, put a link to the counterfeit forum and get Bobby's attention.

It's titled as an altered date so I'm fine with the listing. Just thought it was odd that it's being bid up so high.

Nearly $200 with over a day to go. The only thing I can think of is that people are not READING and only seeing the 1877.

Either that, or someone looking to foist this over as a real 1877 after buying.

It's disturbing, not matter what.

I didn't notice 'altered date' in the listing so, I suppose a lot of bidders didn't either.
But, they must know it's not original.

IMO, this coin should not be resold, even with all of the disclaimers; because of the high likelihood that it will be bought by someone who plans to resell it without said disclaimers, i.e. as a genuine 1877 IHC. I think seller is showing poor judgment by even listing it for sale to begin with.

It's now up to $355. seller is offering 14 day money back return. I think his key word is ''RARE ''
this is crazy .

Altered date is not allowed, whether stated or not, and should be removed. Suggest mentioning over on the counterfeit forum.

I don't think it's altered. I think the date is legit, but the coin is NOT legit.

What date do you suggest that it was altered from? It would have to be post-1886; 1887? 1897?
