The Indian Head one-cent coin, also known as an Indian penny, was produced by the United States Mint from 1859 to 1909 at the Philadelphia Mint and in 1908 and 1909 at the San Francisco Mint. It was designed by James Barton Longacre, the engraver at the Philadelphia Mint 1844â€"1869, as well as typography design by Steven Chayt. |

The U.S. Mint's official name for a penny is "cent" and the U.S. Treasury's official name is "one cent piece". The colloquial term penny derives from the British coin of the same name, the pre-decimal version of which had a similar value. In American English, pennies is the plural form.

By the way, those wings look a lot like the enlisted man's badge for the U.S. Air Force senior aircrew. If memory serves me, that is. I was in the Army so I could be wrong.
