My first time reading this thread. There are many wonderful coins I wish were in my collection. I find many of the United States coins very desirable. I'm definitely going to look forward to reading this thread. I learn of more coins I've never seen before, and might want to include in my collection. A huge thank you to all posters, for sharing your passion with others. I'm really taken with the 1992 Columbus half dollar set. I love the ship, very intricate detail. The billowing sails are fantastic. I love old ships!

So, are we doing one year per day or what did you decide? (I've been gone for like a month and have missed everything since my last post for 2010)

One year per day.

However, one can post coins from the previous day's year if they do so before anyone posts one for the new year.

For example, today is now 1990, but one could have posted a 1991 coin since no one has posted a 1990 coin yet.

I said could have... but not now...

I will share one of my favourite coins from 1990. It is a recent acquisition.

Wanted to post an 1992 coin, actually, as I didn't notice the 1991 piece
I suspect I'll participate more if/when we get out of the late 20th century (my earliest dated coin is from 1517); that said, I've already forgot about interesting coins from my collection at least three times (2007, 1999 and 1992).

1990 J German 10 Deutsche Mark - 800 Year anniversary of the formation of the Deutscher Orden, also known as the Teutonic Order. In Medieval times they were knight tough guys. Now it's a christian charitable organization, hence the more benign subject matter on the coin.

The coin is pristine, but the two layers of plastic it's under have some marks.

Those Eisenhower coins are eye catching, I fell in love with the reverses. I dream of a home like that some day. The style of the house evokes images of buy gone days, and the tree is so perfect. I looked at both for a couple minutes and I cannot decide, which I like better. They both have their appeal, but in different ways. An image of simpler times and wholistic values comes to mind.

I don't know why some people think US Commemeratives are uninspired. I'd like to add this one to my collection. What category do I look under in ebay and roughly what is the price range for each type? I cannot resist the urge.

The 1990 Eisenhower dollar would be under us US commemorative-modern. You should have many available around $30.
