Everyone who knows me, knows me as 'The Collector', because I am obsessed with collecting. haha
My first love is Comic Books. I collect dozens of different titles, but my biggest is Superman. I have every Superman comic since 1986, and tons more before that date.
I collect both circulation and NCLT coins. I have almost every circulating coin in Canadian history. Only missing a few of the really RARE ones. Unfortunately, they're out of my price range right now. I also collect American circulation coins.
I collect Canadian paper money, currently going back to 1937. I have at least every bill up to the $20 for every series since 1937, and some I have up to the $100.
I collect books, as in novels. I read them all, of course, but I love to own and display them. Mostly nerdy stuff like Star War and Star Trek, but I've been adding to my leatherbound classics collection slowly every year. From Dickens to Dracula to Sherlock Holmes to Tolstoy to Fairy Tales to Gatsby to Asimov to Monte Cristo...and everything in between. My dad built me a shelf once - I am no carpenter - and it covers the whole wall, 10 feet by 8 feet high. It is filled with over 1,000 books (yes, I counted).
I collect anything Superman, and keep adding to my massive 'shrine' of anything you can imagine...lunchboxes, figures, coin banks, glasses, pictures, toothbrushes, hats, and more...
I love Star Wars, and I really LOVE Star Wars LEGO so I've got a huge shelf full of literally hundreds of LEGO Star Wars sets. I also collect anything Star Wars and Trek, but not as insane as my Superman.
And as for little trinkets, I love collecting pins. Each time I acquire a new one I add to my corkboard mural that I'm slowly creating.
Oh yeah, and I almost forgot about stamps. I, too, would love to have every stamp, but I only started collecting this year actually (well, seriously). I'm doing fairly well for myself...but really my collection of stamps is my smallest of them all.
Well, I think that about covers it.
Do I have a problem?...
;) This is a cool thread. Just wish more people would get involved.

I have been collecting vinyl LPs since the sixties. Sitting around 3500 but haven't added for years. Music is not the same anymore, but there is an increasing interest so I bought a usb turntable to record the keepers then I am considering selling, some worth in excess of 500.00. I also love surrounding myself with native American carvings and art. Frankly I have a hard time letting anything go.

I collect 1/64 scale trucks that say "Coca Cola" on the sides.
I also collect banks, but am particularly fond of those that are just for dimes or nickels.
With the banks, I am starting to branch out into other types including rockets and mechanicals.
But if you know of any banks that I might like, I prefer those that come with coins already in them.

The banks sound like a wonderful complement to coin collecting. I had never consider it before. When I went home this summer there was this huge ceramic Pig piggy bank at the drugstore. It was at least 2 feet long and a foot wide. It was only $25 and it was painted like one of the rare breeds. I think the come trucks would be real cool, especially with the old time signs. I would love to see pics of these pieces. This is a great thread!

Coins, stamps, Matchbox cars from 60s-70s, glass insulators, stuff I found on the ground while out wandering around (statute of limitations has run out on some of the latter, I think), first letter of women's first names you've dated (all 26 is a registry set, but to my knowledge it's never been done). I don't actually "collect" anything anymore except coins and gray hair.

Here's a very unlucky collectable from the past. My dad always 'did' the loto tickets,..but he didn't smile when he tore open the silver envelope that had this ticket inside ..way back when.. This was not a "promo" ticket.. He was actually given this as a possible winner. The sealed silver envelopes naturally hid the "always" random #. I felt that it was a keeper anyway.. ...one in a million... so to speak...

I collect hugs and kisses from my children... I collect affectionate looks from my wife... I collect the laughter that fills the room during the holidays when I have my extended family over. I collect day dreams when I'm out on my motorbike going across this beloved country I live in.
Sure I have a collection of coins, banknotes, silver and gold... but that is just fun and keeps me from my old ways and out of trouble. I would give it up in a second if need be... especially to fund my "primary" collection.

Started collecting coins when cleaning out my parents' home. We found several caches of old coins, mostly Canadian, which fired up what had been a childhood pastime. Many of the coins we found were mine that I had left when I moved out.
Also collect Scotty Cameron golf related equipment and accessories.
Have a few fossilized shark teeth and fish, but probably less than would be a collection.
Same with clear glass inkwells.
And selected edged weapons from self-defense days.
