So much for the "big" announcement from Gatewest Coins. Just what we need, another point rewards system. Canadian Coin/Currency have a similar program where they give one point per dollar spent.
Gatewest's point program is more arbitrary. Some coins in the same price range have different points. The $20 for $20 coin give only 20 points while the $19.99 Birth year coin gives you 100 points.
100 points - $1 500 points - $5 1000 points - $10 2500 points - $25 5000 points - $50 10,000 points - $100 25,000 points - $500 50,000 points - $500 100,000 points - $1000

The link doesn't work. Is it already sold out?

Quote: Just what we need, another point rewards system. Why complain about a new program that can make coin purchases less expensive? The new program gives collectors who like to deal with Gatewest an opportunity to save $$$. How is that a bad thing? Quote: Gatewest's point program is more arbitrary...The $20 for $20 coin give only 20 points while the $19.99 Birth year coin gives you 100 points. This makes sense to me. The Birth Year set has more profit margin built into it so it's logical that Gatewest could offer more points (i.e., future discount) with its purchase.

I agree with comment. Anything is better than nothing. It won't entice me to buy coins I don't like but if I am planning to buy some coins, doesn't hurt to get some points for it. I think moneypenny and others(I included) was hoping for something bigger when gatewest create the thread of BIG announcement

Lostwords correct.
Don't we expected for free gifts - this is the "big" for the customer.
And the dealer implemented improval, that actually also works towards the customer, but just doesn't looks like something big.
In anyway, that's better than no points at all....

The big announcement was to offer same stuff we already see in other dealers.
It's good for very good customers that buy every month but with this "rewards points" they are not getting new customers.

Hey Guys, a couple of my customers told me about this site, so decided to join the party :) I will try to participate as much as possible.
Now lets discuss January coins - the proof dollar is a great looking coin in hand, the five different finishes on the coin look really good, wish the mint would provide better pictures.

but didn't you used to be Gwako? Or is there another Coin Shoppe. Agreed on the Mint using better pics (or even actual photos). Hoping that forum members will post actual photos here as soon as they can.

Just to clarify any confusion on the VIP program we have just rolled out. I have copied from our website a portion of the terms for redeeming the points.
"To redeem your VIP Bonus Points, simply complete your purchase through our online checkout, and your VIP Bonus Points will be automatically redeemed on qualifying products!"
You do not have to wait for your next purchase to use your points. Hope this helps alleviate any confusion.

I await delivery of my Proof and BU dollars. I also plan to purchase the Proof Set with the gold-plated vSD at some point. I agree re: web site images. I believe the RCM would sell more of some coins if it used actual images. Many coins look far better in hand than they do on the RCM site.

Just saw some real pictures on the other site (I think our new member posted them, thanks a lot for this), and looks like the "Premium 2014 SML" even better, that I thought.
The satin (Reverse Proof) finish on the fields contrasts very well with the brilliant surface of the leaf, and it looks more detailed than standard bullion SML.
I do not like to tell "hot" or "dude", but IMO, people will buy this version as numismatic coin and it will be sold out.

How do I quote on this forum ?
@CC-Ottawa - Gwako is/was personal account and didn't represent the company accurately. This is the companies account.
Moving on - would love to post in hand pictures - whats the rule for watermarks on this site - as we dont want our in hand pictures stolen.

thecoinshoppe ! I've bougth from them several times and it's the opposite to the RCM: superbe customer service, very fair prices and very often you could get free shipping. How to quote? Read here: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=37020Finally, I just come from my Postal office. It's small so they uses to have just the typical uncirculated set, birthday, etc but I was surprised they have the Fu coin (Fortune) in the box with the stamp. Looks nice. I tried to see the COA and didn't find the mintage indication so maybe it's in the other pages that were hiden or maybe there isn't
