Quote: it's difficult to grade Not much wear going by the picture, but flan and some strike problems. Would go slightly better at gVF = VF+ with comment on flan.

Up for grading is an early Parthian Mithradates I drachm dated 144-132 BC. Take notice of the die state on the obverse as opposed to wear or over cleaning...interesting. I think it would be interesting how you folks would grade a coin that is defective as a result of the die state rather than environmental of centering.

Well this will have to be a split grade, one for the obverse and the other the reverse. Because of the obverse die wear I would grade the obverse as Fine+. The reverse on the other hand is very well struck with nice details, so I would give it a grade of VF+.

I think it would be difficult to assign an overall grade for this specimen. Maybe VF-?

Love the patina on this coin. It has excellent detail, though the reverse is a little off centered. I'd give it a grade of VF.

A bit of a weak strike here but I like the wide flan. Thoughts? Obverse: Bust of Roma right with PV behind. Reverse: Victory driving a biga right with RVL above and M LVCILI below. M. Lucilius. Rufus. (101 B.C.) 3.97g. 19.7 x 22.5 mm. Reference: Sear-202, RSC Lucilia 1.
