Worth face value. But at least the seller provides an interesting bit of background information about the coin. A pity that when doing his research he didn't learn what it's really worth...

highrating_lowprice has name on ebay mixed up if you ask me.
More fitting would be lowrating_highprice

I like War Nickels but not this much. 233250574883 US $1,497.00 + $4.50 shipping.
All 25,870 listings this seller has up seem to be this crazy.

Oh my!

Maybe they shifted a decimal point. $14.97 would be more believable.

Here is one that popped up on the copper collectors group, these are deceptive enough that many dealers wouldn't even look twice at them, and around $10-20 each retail deceptive enough to fool the newer collectors. Selling in lots of 14 on Amazon for $50.00

A rare 2005 Jefferson nickel with an opening bid of only $1,100 and a BIN of $1,500.

I do have to say, the quality of the photography is stellar!

And another one I came across recently, a $2,000 1986-D "misprint" Lincoln Cent where Honest Abe has "the wings of an angel".

I think "wings" might be spelled "fingerprints".

Paul Bulgerin - those two listings are hilarious!

Another polished penny for a mind-blowing £2,430...

What amazes me is that this seller has set a 'Buy It Now' price! On ebay UK you have to pay 50p extra to list an item with a 'Buy It Now' price. So the seller has already paid 50 times the value of this coin to list it on ebay.

FYI - 1971 was the year the UK introduced decimal currency, and an incredible 1,521,666,250 pennies were minted, making them the most common UK coin ever issued. Even today they are very easily found in circulation.

Similar happens with the 1966 Oz coins. Being the first decimal set they minted gazillions yet jokers still list them as "rare" first decimal coin.

To American collectors - Lisa in Oz has some absolute bargains like this one:

And don't try and haggle - she's done her research!!!
Check out her other 'rare' US coins at knock down prices!

Good to see the old rare Australian 1988 $2 H.H. scam is still alive and kicking.

I'm reminded of Star wars whenever I browse for coins on Gumtree. I do it mostly for a laugh. 99% of listings are overpriced from moderate to outlandish.

This honest Joe has taken the $2 H.H. scam to news heights.
https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/liv...h/1285733565
And they even offer flexible payment options via cryptocurrency. How decent of them!!

In fact, an thinking it might be better to start a thread posting reasonably priced coins on Scumtree. Don't think there would be too many posts.

You'll see plenty of Peter Rabbits and Paddington Bears for ludicrous prices, but who could resist spending £3,500 on a damaged example of the UK's most common 50 pence coin?

Here's another beauty, a very rare error 1990 Lincoln Cent which had an opening bid of only $200.
