The 1909s is a tragedy . That said it is another cool example of other uses for coins. This was probably used as a spacer or a washer and was just hammered through. The coin was cheaper than the part needed. You see bent Half Dimes and Five cent silver coins of Newfoundland all the time . The primary use wa that of a screwdriver.
